Luke Rainbird
Haven't had a chance to get in to it properly, but have soaked it in penetrative lube (giggity) to make life easier when I can. Either way, ~210bhp on a known map > ~190bhp on am unknown map and will give me a decent foundation to move forward. troubleshooting on the stock map should be a tad easier really. Pete.M
Losing loads of oil. There's a nice light covering of oil on the back of the car. I put 2 and 2 together and thought a piston ring on the new engine was most likely dead. I was so gutted that I started looking at new cars. However, just checked compression and all is well. Whilst doing so I found oil on the downpipe and oil under the filter, so I think it's just an external leak after all. The air flow must be picking up oil from the downpipe area hence the oil on the back of the car. Phew, panic over.
Luke Rainbird
In short: f**k REVO.In long: f**king f**k REVO.Carry on.
george_seamons
Sorted then?
Luke Rainbird
Getting there. Slowly (due to the "protection" REVO put on to their own maps making them an utter bitch to flash over).Found a lambda sensor issue and with that swapped out it was pulling far better. Certainly up to stock levels if not more.Should hopefully have the car back on a standard map again tomorrow, but for 24 hours it's stuck in Valet mode (ie. No boost and ~100bhp)It seems~210bhp on a known map > ~190bhpmay not be quite the case yet
MadManMike
Ah yes, REVO locked ECU's... I used to read about that a lot when I was in those circles. Sounds like it's getting there though mate, good stuff!
Luke Rainbird
Cheers Mike. All being well should have a fairly standard map on there tomorrow and that'll do while I throw on the supporting mods needed to visit Niki later in the year. Pashley26
If the "tuner" can't re flash to stock I'd be binning him off and finding somebody who can do the job properly.
Luke Rainbird
If that turns out to be the case when he gets around to trying tomorrow I shall.
Pashley26
Not Volkscraft by any chance is it?
Luke Rainbird
Nope. Chap who works under the name GHE Tuning. He's just an installer rather than coding the maps himself - gets most of his maps through either More-BHP or the chap Niki uses for non 1.8t stuff, apparently. Given that I only started chatting to him around 11pm last night he didn't have a chance to get a map ready for today hence not loading anything on, just half an hour of diagnosis and reading the ECU to see what's on there at present as a reference point.Either way, the map itself is a standard LCR map, or very close to it. Just need to get rid of the pain in the ass that REVO seem to love to create so I can get on with things properly

TrialsIsHard
I have a set of JBL speakers coming tomorrow, 13cm with tweeters. Does anyone have any tips on where best to hide the tweeters/ fit them somewhere?
