Mark W
My Focus has started doing this thing where the oil pressure light kind of flickers on/off when I'm cornering (when both on and off the throttle). It'll occasionally do it when I accelerate hard in a straight line, but usually that's literally just it flickering, whereas when cornering if I keep turning the same amount it just stays on. Would I be right in assuming that this is just going to be an issue with the sender unit or something, rather than my car being too busy being a weird shade of green to be able to maintain oil pressure? Drives fine, doesn't appear to be losing any oil, etc.
dann2707
Detailed it yesterday and took some pics just now. Need to refurb wheels ASAPPPPPP. New numberplates needed too.

LukasMcNeal
As Adam said probably the oil level. 99.9% it needs more oil!
Mark W
Yeah, just had a check and it could probably do with a bit more. Eurocarparts within a mile of my house = win.
AdamR28
Excellent. That should do the trick. PS: How much is 'a bit more'?
Mark W
Just below the 'min' mark on the weirdly sharp, pointy dipstick. Also, that Ford bonnet release thing can go f**k itself. I don't get why I need to recreate the launch sequence for a nuclear missile every time I want to go under the bonnet...
AdamR28
That will definitely be the issue then. Probably need nearly a litre... Haha - yeah, Flipp's was pretty tech!
Mark W
Somewhat of a twat to get it to actually close too. From a quick Googleymoogley search, those latches are known to just stop working/die, so here's hoping I'll be able to get back in there easily enough... dann2707
They are so annoying aren't they haha! Glad you got sorted with a car in the end dude, any pics of the beast?
Mark W
Nah, it doesn't really warrant any haha. Just a bog standard Mk.1 1.8LX hatchback in Gash Green. Drives pretty nicely in fairness so can't really complain. A little thirstier than I was expecting, but hopefully having somewhere near the right amount of oil might help out with that a little bit. EDIT: Topped up and good to go, although I noticed the coolant's really low too. They allegedly serviced the car before I had it - either they're lying, or I might end up having to use that warranty in the near future... Haz
Jardo. I'm lazy and can't be arsed to clean my car. You. Me. Renault Clio that hasn't been washed in 4 months. Some of your soapy shit + time. Some of my money. You in?
Pashley26
Yeah sure. Let me know when. I'm doing a full day paint restoration an an Evo tomorrow for a mate of mine, it has honestly been washed twice in the last 4 years with a sponge and washing up liquid. Parked outside all of its life. I have been badgering him for literally years to let me sort it for him, but he does <1000 a year in it so he can't be bothered. Apparently the paint feels like the back of a scouring pad. The roof and boot are white. This is what it looks like soaking wet...

dann2707
Today I wet sanded and polished my headlights after them looking awful and faded/green. Started with wet and dry 1200, then 2000 then finally 2500 until the green had gone. Then machine polished them on the slowest setting with megs #105 until they started getting clearer. Then glazed with prima amigo and put two layers of Collinite #915 Really happy with the results, they're not absolutely brand new perfect as I didn't want to overdue the machine polishing with it being plastic and me being a total noob with a machine polisher. *gentlydoesit
Any one of those products you've used a UV protector?
Mark W
Just went and did what I thought was topping my car's coolant up. Bought some coolant, came home, went to my car, launched a missile and opened the bonnet, filled it to the max level, stepped back and watched the ever increasing puddle under my car. f**k yes, coolant leak. f**k yes. Seems to be coming from a point on the right hand side of the engine block (as you look at it from the front), just out of view so I can't really see what's going on. *sigh*
dann2707
Any one of those products you've used a UV protector? I think Collinite 915 has uv protection. If not i'll grab some suncream...
Pashley26
Lamin-x them with clear film now and they will stay clear forever. Mark, it sucks to be you.
Mark W
Certainly does From checking online, where it's leaking from appears to be a fairly common issue. Can't wait to find out how they won't cover it under warranty when I give the garage a buzz tomorrow...
Pete.M
Did the Google diagnosis sound expensive mark? Today, whilst getting tax, I noticed that the address of the previous owner is on the V5 so I put it into Google maps and found the Volvo! Strangely happy with this find, what a nerd. Mark W
Should be fairly cheap from what I can gather. That depends if it is actually that though...
