forteh
Anyone good with stereo wiring? I recently replaced the oem 6cd changer head unit in my focus because it was shagged ( wouldn't pay cds and would only pick up lw radio!) with a second hand blaupunkt mp66. Got a harness adaptor from Halfords and it all works spot on apart from the steering column remote control which isn't connected. Are these things a common wiring layout and simple enough to hack or isn't it likely to work?
CurtisRider
I'm assuming by harness adapter you mean to convert the focus to ISO? Usually you have to buy an adapter harness to get the steering wheel controls to work with an aftermarket radio (if its even compatible with steering wheel controls that is)

CurtisRider
My wheels need refurbishing and since I have a spare set of wheels I can get on with sanding down them whilst waiting for next months pay. I am getting tempted to go for gold centres with off white lips A mixture of these two I guess: I'm keeping the stock wheels and i'm not after polishing the lip although painting it a bright silver is an option with gold centres (i really like the gold ) I can't seem to find a decent photo of a white and gold mix on wheels anybody good with le photoshop? alastair34
is that a turbo as big as the engine? a little bit of introduction please? yeah she isn't shy, just a 1.6 focus engine got bored of n/a power so built a turbo motor
Jolfa
Scrubs up well Few teething problems - top turbo oil feed leaks, it's got a horrendous whistling sound coming from somewhere that is affected by throttle postition, can't work it out and the launch control is permanently enabled as I'm missing a road speed wire for the ECU. MOT time next week, will almost certainly fail on various niggly **** so I'll get as much as I can sorted between now and then!
Pashley26
I hate to say this Rich, but it looks fantastic.
CurtisRider
Looks a damn sight better than when you started, whats with the missing indicator housing? I see the indicators are moved lower in the bumper so ermmm, there appears to be a gaping hole not doing much
Pashley26
Air filter...I bet.
CurtisRider
Surely using an old indicator housing and then making a neat duct would look a ton better?
Jolfa
I hate to say this Rich, but it looks fantastic. Why? It does! Indicator is indeed missing to get cold air to filter, gets pretty warm in there with there being more engine than car! I did look at modifying a housing but it wasn't practical and looked shit
Prawny Baby
One more from Jardo:Car looks nice Rich. Get that indicator back in though, it's making no difference with it removed
Pashley26
It does, realllly common on S2's. Google "audi S2 air filter" and see where it fits...nt clever. What a productive day I have had!!! I went to an autojumble at Pickets Piece with my old man, in my Pop. As I walked in the first stand I came too had so much old Ford shit on it, a couple of cross flows, a load of boxes, a 100e Murray overdrive unit, all sorts. Dad and I went for a walk, made a plan of action and I got hit by a wave of enthusiasm. So I just bought a built 711M block 1300 cross flow for my Pop. Burton pistons, stock rods, balanced lightweight crank and a very highly ported head with big valves and solid lifters. Along with a little T3 turbo, manifold and down pipe to suit a Mk1 Escort. Dad is confident he can get it all in the Pop. The Ford day is at Beaulieu on the 4th of May, so I need to decided if I want a 4 speed Anglia box and a 105e English axel without cutting the bulkhead or transmission tunnel or a 5 speed type 9 and a shortened atlas axel with a custom prop which will be ultimately better, but three times the work and twice the money. Anybody else going to the Ford day?
Azarathal
Inside of the car clean! Cleaned and treated the leather and despite cleaning the car Saturday thanks to the rain yesterday my car needed a quick wipe over with some quick detail spray. MadManMike
Finally got my rods, rod ends and tracking done. Also got stung for two new tyres because they were pretty shagged... For the first time since owning the car, it now goes in a straight line when I boot it!
Skoze
Came within 6" of writing off the Capri and a Mk5 Golf R32 today. He came flying round a very tight corner on a lane, I locked up and went across the rear quarter and up the verge. No contact and both alright, but sheeeeeeit. Had to stop for 10 minutes and chill out, was pretty terrifying. Then it rained and everything got a whole lot worse for the remaining hour, horrible horrible drive home. Need some new tyres asap, what does everyone rate more - Rainsports or T1-Rs?
RobinJI
I've generally heard better things about the Rainsports. I've got T1-R's though (2 sets in fact) and have been pretty happy with them. I've only got them on the Scirocco over the Rainsports because I was in a hurry and nowhere had Rainsports on the shelf though, and the MX-5 came with T1-R's on the nicer wheels. Had an interesting day today, started working on the MX-5 fitting a load of FIA approved roll-cage padding but got interrupted when my friend Alan swung by to say hello in his 1934 Jowett, which lead to an impromptu trip to the beach in it, taking the very senic route. I kind of want something vintage, there's something hugely fun about pottering along in the sun in them. One day maybe.
CurtisRider
I hate those moments, I had a similar thing happen when a wang in a Clio came sliding round a corner T1Rs were awesome for me, as were Vredestein Sessantas.
