Pete.M
Well that makes my hard time today seem like nothing, glad you're alright. Good: Picked up an engine today. Bad: Engine rolled over in boot and smashed a side window. Could really do without that repair bill.
Tom Booth
That's bad luck, sorry man but
CurtisRider
Possibly should have strapped that engine down? Gutted dude!
Danny
I picked up my mini engine in a similar Volvo and sat in the back and it rolled over on me rather than taking the window out. I was a little squishyer
monkeyseemonkeydo
You have to declare any accident regardless of the circumstances or fault, we've established that... My point is that my bike accident counted as a claim on my policy because of the retarded way the company worked.
LukasMcNeal
Normally Skodas are as boring as wax (aside from VRS's) this ones a bit more fun http://www.carthrottle.com/this-twin-engined-octavia-is-the-worlds-most-extreme-skoda/
Greetings
Well my dad has just bought this: He'll be collecting it in over a month. He specifically wanted this model because this is the one he drove in the British Rally and many others (including internationals) back in the days when he was competing. Now it's going to be his daily driver for the winter when his MGA needs to stay clear from the salt. So it's a bit like if I were to buy an E36 M3 in 2050. Very romantic.
Danny
Seems a bit harsh driving that in the winter? Rust ahoy. Those things looked awesome rallying.
dann2707
Why is it that diesel engines are mainly odd numbers where as petrol are even numbers? I know it doesn't work for the vag 2.0tdi and the Honda 2.2 diesel but stuff like vauxhall 1.3 1.7 and 1.9 cdti along with vag 1.9tdi.nissans 1.5cdi etc etc. Always wondered. AdamR28
Maybe the same blocks but bored out less? Shorter stroke? I dunno...
Jolfa
Well I know the difference between the Audi 2.2/2.3 petrol and the 2.5 diesel is the crank. As above they're adapted engines which require different amounts of compression

Pashley26
It's lasted since 1972, so I'm sure it'll last through some snow. As long as Alex doesn't drive it.
Danny
Sat in a garage wrapped in a blanket with hot cup of tea probably.
Greetings
It's a 1969 GT with a different cam, apparently 130bhp roughly. Can't wait to drive it, dad seems to think it's a really nice car. Not a huge fan of how it looks though. It looks a bit like a Fiat Siena would if it was designed in the 70s'. CurtisRider
Refurbished a spare distributer with a wire brush The bought an ultrasonic cleaner and tried it out on my WUR casing Next job is the injectors! Had my car tuned by a specialist today and it's like a completely different machine, very happy! Even better when it cost me £25. Also got a bunch of spares and a free Dansk exhaust to whack on when I'm next home. Annoyingly I need a new exhaust manifold gasket so I'm going to get plus gassing the nuts ASAP ready for when I'm back home to fix it
King C
I was tempted to buy an US cleaner. They can be had pretty cheap from maplins, but I did wonder how much I'd use it. I did want to have a go at injectors just because it's not going to do any harm and it's a lot cheaper than sending them off. I did have loads of other little brackets etc that I wanted to do.
CurtisRider
Yeah I got the maplins one, figured it was worth a punt at the price! It took about 15mins to get that casing as clean as it is, which I figured wasn't too bad as i could go off and do other jobs whilst it worked. You have to be careful with some coatings, it removed an anti rust coating from a cheap cassette I tried and also the anti glare coating from my really old glasses that I tried cleaning! Prawny Baby
I have an ultra sonic cleaner, I use it for injectors. it's great!
CurtisRider
The only trouble is the ultrasonic cleaners can't totally clean an injector, but then I guess it's good preventative maintenance regardless.
Azarathal
Forgive me if this is a stupid idea but I've been posting about getting an mr2 for a while now and I now have the funds to look properly. My first choice would be the mk2 rev3-5 na due to 30mpg average as opposed to a mk2 rev3-5 tubby. Could I install a switchable ecu for stock boost for a thrash and low boost for mileage. Would low boost / off boost get closer to the 30mpg mark? And would it still have the power of an na or would it be less? I'd post this on mr2 oc but using that site on a phone is a pita. AdamR28
Could just leave it on high boost all the time and drive more steadily to achieve better MPG?
dann2707
Or get a diesel Economy, boost and shit loads of torque. If you're getting that car and worrying about mpg i'd say you shouldn't be considering that car, if that makes sense and hopefully doesn't make me sound like a patronising dickhead?
