Prawny Baby
Same plumbed in system I now have Alex Did you install that yourself or did PSS do it? Any pics of where you've mounted the 4 nozzles so I can get an idea? I'm mounting my tank in the same place as yours, just need to get the nozzle locations sorted. Car is looking great Btw, well done on the win!
Pashley26
I did some cool stuff over the last couple of days. I fitted a heat shield that a friend bought me, but it doesn't quite fit because it's for an S3 not an A3 and the intake pipe is longer. Today I tidied up and re-routed my DV. <p> Old routing which sees a compromised flow. It has removed an additional 90* and also halved the distance from the valve to the intake pipe. As such it sounds much better, crisper pop when you come off the throttle I purchased some good car cleaning bits over Christmas, Poorboys Black Hole glaze, a Meguiars long spoke brush, some Dodo Juice Tyrearmour and a hand pressure washer which is portable and contains all the water itself. So I'm happy for the next couple of weeks I had my work wet vac the interior and steam clean the seats, the mats got a bit mucky messing about at Prawns but this is the last picture I'll have of the car with a cloth interior. Because on Tuesday I'll have these in it - I spent a fair amount of time round at Prawns over Christmas, poor track car Prawn dropped off my Miltek exhaust which needs a little work but will be excellent when fitted And I've got a load of hose to re-do my PCV system Ordered an S2000 air filter today and appropriate hoses to fit it, so that will hopefully show some flow improvements. Also bought a set of aluminum Audi TT pedals, which I cannot wait to fit
RobinJI
Cars looking smart Jardo, new seats should be awesome. Is your breather stuff still actually plumbed into the intake? Surely you could improve flow through the BOV even more by removing about 2 feet of pipework?
Pashley26
Yeah, probably could. I won't though due to effort The PCV is still plumbed into the tip; I a going to plug the TIP entry, and connect the lower PCV and crank case outlets at a T piece. I will run that to the catch can and then vent the can to atmosphere through a filter.
Duncy H
I got my heater blowers working, put a new (to me) heater motor in and it works! But only on maximum setting. Not too fussed though cause it works for now at least. Got a rear lapbelt and the clips for the other seatbelts in the rear and now realise why there weren't any in there. Cause one of the threads is stripped..... Not sure what to do about that, might weld a nut on. Sprayed my badge, not big i know but everyone likes pictures!... I keep getting tempted to put some bbs copies on like the bbs rs, I knew this would happen though, i didn't want to spend too much on it but temptation may get the better of me
george_seamons
He's been proven that the coldside is inferior by several people, still won't have it though Nice one on the s3 seats though, they will look good!
Pashley26
Proven is a strong word, there is nothing more than theoretical debate taken to extremes. In the same way I am making assumptions about the benefit of recirculating cold air people are making their assumptions based on things which don't actually happen but would on other applications. Neither Bill or Niki with their first hand experience could turn round and say "I did this..." or "I had a car in which did this and it was because of a coldside kit." All they could say was theoretical and irelevant. Having the valve that far away from the compressor wheel does not create stall, so that's that one out the window. Having an extra foot of hosing doesn't make the car any slower or effect the spool up time in any noticable way because the turbo is more than capable of overboosting for a milisecond to fill that tube. All in all, I don't mind what you or anybody else thinks about the efficency. Because it works, and coldside kits like this have worked for years and are fitted to some of the highest power 1.8t's out there. I have had two now and not once have I had an issue I could attribute to the coldside kit. Even Tufty has one, and if there was something "better" out there he would have made it. All I have done is move my valve half the length along the recirculation tubing to tidy the enging bay and get better flow. So stop your winging woman. MadManMike
I'd love to drift... In a FWD 90bhp diesel I can't see that happening any time soon though Feel free to spam away, especially with vids!
Sam T
Posting on behalf of Bessell. So many of you may know that hes recently bought a new evo. He took me out in it and all i can say is that it is f**king mental. Here a pretty shit video from inside, i struggled to keep the camera in a decent position due to the acceleration lol. Anyway, enjoy! Edited December 31, 2012 by Sam T
MadManMike
That is SWEET. Looks crazy fast too. I'm aiming to get something faster next year, not sure what yet - unlikely to be a 650hp Evo, but I'd like something bargain Jap I think. Pashley26
Today was a good day Went out on the piss in Barnstaple with Prawn, Tic and a load of our friends to celebrate New Years. Woke up next to this beauty - And went and had a look at his Leon, which is LOVELY. Came back from Barney in the track car with Prawn. We came back to mine and I cleaned my car, then my mate Phil turned up with a set of full leather, heated, electric Recaro seats for the Audi for free. So I fitted them, and now I'm drinking Baileys and watching Fantastic Mr. Fox. Edited January 1, 2013 by Pashley26
MadManMike
That Leon looks super-tidy! Not sure if I posted this before, but insurance is nuts on Leon's - here's the deal: Currently paying £1,300 on the 90hp TDi, can insure a 180bhp 1.8t for £700. Qué? Pashley26
Because insurance is f**ked up. My A3 has the same engine, and everything underneath as a facelift Leon. Pretty much the same car with a different body. Yet an A3 is LOADS cheaper than a Leon to buy and insure.
RobinJI
Because insurance is f**ked up. Yep, that's about right. My Scirocco ended up costing me less to insure than the renual quote was on my Passat. The Scirocco being 150bhp/900kg and the Passat being 80bhp/1250kg. Zero sense made. Borrowed my mums car (2003 Skoda Fabia, 1.4 16v) to go into town last night because I wasn't drinking, so I knew I'd be giving shit loads of lifts, and the Scirocco's rear seats are only good for paraplegic midgets. How do people drive modern cars? There's zero sensation of anything the car's doing, can't say I enjoyed it much. I can see the attraction to people who just want to potter around, but all that super power-assisted everything doesn't really appeal to me or make me feel safe if I had to do anything suddenly. Certainly made me appreciate the Sciroccos power too haha.

Pashley26
That's the most flawed statement I've ever heard.
RobinJI
Pretty sure they base the statistics on the %age of the car that's crashed though, not the total number. The total number's statistically irrelevant surely? I think it's partly down to the fact that driving's now seen as such a mundane part of life, that so few people pay attention to or actually have a clue what they're doing behind the wheel, that enthusiasts are actually safer drivers now. Martin Reynolds
You're all forgetting that it's not just based on your cars BHp, you also got to take into account age, market value, make/model ect ect. So there will be cases where more powerful cars will be cheaper to insure
haydon_peter
@ Jardo Thanks for posting that photo of me sleeping If any other photos you took of my car look good please send them over, I still haven't taken any of my own photos!
Prawny Baby
Anyway, enjoy!IMG_1038.JPG Massive love for that! Looks pretty insane! I thought I saw Adam say somewhere that it's 600bhp though? Dyno printout shows 458 doesn't it? still pretty life changing power either way!!! Jolfa
Pretty sure they base the statistics on the %age of the car that's crashed though, not the total number. The total number's statistically irrelevant surely? Well yeah, but if there's 1,000,000 of one type of car on the road vs 10 of another kind (extremes of course, not actual figures) then chances are an awful lot more of the 1,000,000 are (not would be) being crashed more frequently... You could pretty much base it on the number of each type of car you see in scrapyards, can nearly always guarantee a Passat or 2 or 3 in any big yard, I can't remember the last time I saw a MK2 rocco in a yard! The low numbers of certain cars means the ones that are left are being driven more carefully, and generally being looked after better and as such are cheaper to insure regardless of power. As for the same being true of modern cars where there are still 1,000,000's of them with various engines, and the more powerful ones are cheaper to insure - kids can't afford to buy big power cars so therefore there are fewer bellend/careless/inexperienced drivers behind the wheels of the faster models Statistics! I don't know why people don't get it!
LiamWood!
Why can I insure an 96 spec jdm integra type r cheaper than a 2.2 accord? Seems crazy to me.
RobinJI
But if theres 10 of one car, 1 of which gets crashed, and there's 1,000,000 of the other, 100,000 of which get crashed then yeah, the more popular ones being crashed much more frequently, but the chances of one specific example of each of the 2 being crashed is 10%, so from an insurers point of view, it wouldn't matter which of the 2 cars it was, the chances of it being crashed is still 10% so the risk's the same. Agree completely about cars that are older and rarer being looked after more though, pretty much why classic car insurance is dirt cheap I guess.
