You dont wanna go silly on the over-bore, especially on a turbo engine, or you'll melt through the piston walls quicker than dam I've got a 1973 Clubman estate, just need to pull my finger out and re-store it
Tom Booth
Nah, plenty running 1380 turbos successfully. My 1293 has pretty thick borewalls.

My 1293 has pretty thick borewalls. to be honest, id do it just for peace of mind. Even on 1275's, there isn't a great amount of material on the borewalls. CurtisRider
Tested all three of my solenoids, none of them clicked and one got super hot as of it was shorting inside but all three get 10.3v from the car. Vac pump works fine. Surely all 3 can't have died at once? Edit: used a car battery as the source of power to test solenoids If that makes any difference? george_seamons
Camshaft position sensor has failed on my Leon. Takes a few attempts to start (or will start first time in gear). Each time its tries to crank but doesn't, and the key turned off, there is a HUGE pop/bang out of the exhaust. Sounds cool, but can't be good for it haha! Hopefully a new sensor isn't too much, there's a few on ebay, ranging from £11 to £75, so its just a case of choosing a good one I guess! ...there's always something! Pashley26
Cool BMW shit happened this weekend at Prawns. Found out 100% it has a small case diff fitted; Andy P goaded me into lighting up the tires on Prawns dads driveway and it left a mini 11. So we went for a quick spin to show Prawn. Clutch is on it's way out and started slipping but when it cooled it was fine again, so I was a bit narked about tht. Asked Prawn to drive it back because I was a bit pissed off with it. So Prawn took me up to the church which has an almighty great grass car park for some hooligan antics. Big spin, bit of sliding about and some clutch abuse. It was fun. Thinking about keeping the BM as a bit of an ongoing project again now; after having a few conversations this weekend about people spending money to save money and general retarded car buying stories I have realised that maybe I should do stuff to this instead of spending more on something I am going to do more work on. Lots of low boost/6pot/other things talk. Who knows, but I quite like it again. Thinking of starting by putting a decent size set of tires on it and properly decking it. Also on Saturday I went to a local festival of speed, I took Jota Sports own MX5 GT Prototype race car there. Omex 710, lairy cams, throttle bodies, 2.5" exhaust. It is 200bhp, but has £6000 worth of suspension mods; was a great thing to drive! I hope that Mazda make it production. Also gave Robins Passat a half arsed clean, I will post some pictures later. - Every year Prawns mum throws a three day drink-a-thon in the back garden with a proper marquee, tents, awesome food, a fridge and the best group of friends ever to celebrate my girlfriend, Prawn and Bigman's birthday (which all fall without a couple of weeks of each other). That was this weekend; I would say between us we probably consumed 150 pints, 4/5 bottles of wine, a couple of bottles of gin and over 100 cigarettes without much problem. Certainly enough booze and nicotine to kill a heard of cows. The Mangane. For anybody wanting to put a face to Prawn; he looks incredeibly northern for a southern fairy in this photo - We spent a lot of the weekend being utterly flawed by Robins knowledge of just about everything; the kid's amazing. The thought process that goes on in his head is just 10x anything I have ever known. He REALLY knows his shit and has the ability to justify and back it up with well explained logical facts. His Mini looks incredible as does the work he is doing for his portfolio, proper talent. Which is weird because last year he was just a nerdy vegetarian that we all loved dearly; now he's a motorsport super god. One for Adam - And a couple of shots of the MX-5; also for Adam - [imghttps://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/533142_10151353444005130_29582502_n.jpg Mazda have approved production and marketing of that car, for 30K inclusive of two sets of wheels for road and track as well as a choice of brake pads. Not bad when you think it's only 6K more than a Sport-Tech Mx5 anyway. I also had a spin in an ITR on Saturday, which is owned by the guy who used to own my A3. Not sure how to take it; didn't seem fast or all that great. But it needed a fair bit of work by the sounds of it. Looked good though Also I necked the BMW earlier; with an 8th of a tank of fuel left it took 87 quid's worth of V-Power! Boumsong
I'm after another motor..I fancy something with an Audi 80 Saloon Quattro Sport 2.2 20v feel..If such a thing exists? Does anyone know what range of platforms/engines where available in the 80 saloons? most listed on ebay seem to be 1.8s..
Bucky
That 2002 makes me pitch a trouser tent. Spent the last 2 days hand crafting my rear arches. 28 hours of metal work in them now, the thinest skim of filler I have ever seen on panel beaten arches and a blast of bar coat and primer, I'm not 100% happy how they look but 99% will do as the rest of the car isn't perfect. Now I'll be able to tone my rear camber down from 12* to about 3* to match the fronts. Buying more paint in the morning and will have pictures on Wednesday evening. Fabbed some extra bumper mounts to bring it out to line up properly. Now thats a perfect bank holiday

The non turbo 5 pots are a bit shite. You could get 1.6 and 1.9TD, 1.4 8V, 1.6 8V, 1.8 8V, 2L 8V, 2L 16V, 2.2 turbo and non turbo and 2.3 non turbo, 2.6 and 2.8V6. They are Mk3 under the shell, super easy to mod. Lots of fans on E38. Basically any engine from the Corrado/Passat/Mk2/Mk3 Golf was available in the B3/before 80 of which you speak. A nice car to have would be an 80 Quattro Competition. 2L 16V 140bhp goodness. I've had a turbo's 2.6 sport estate and my old Coupe; both of which have been f**king epic. Muel
Wasn't there a 2.8 v6 as well? Don't know much about them, just always fancied one. Lot of car for a grand or so.
