brad1995
Right, every time i try to grind my rim i always get the same result, a rough but very dull rim. I have tried changing the angle and pressure that i am grinding at and also tried using brand new grinding disks but nothing seems to be working. I was just wondering if anyone could help me out on getting a nice medium grind if possible, im running an echo urban rim (rear) just in case anyone wants to know. Thanks, Brad. Revolver
Make sure you only grind in one direction. Don't wipe the grinder back and forwards, it undoes some of your work.
brad1995
Tried that as well :/ What type of grinding discs are you guys using ?
dann2707
Metal cutting (stainless steel) disk. Please don't tell me you're using a flapper disk?
liam n
Try using a Diamond cutting disc. You can get diamond tile cutting disc or stone cutting. stone cutting seems to be sharper, but it has notches in it (still works though) give one of these ago, you can pick them up for £1.75 to £5. and just a gentle skim makes a perfect harsh grind. if you don't want to buy one i'd say use a brand new metal cutting disc (not grinding disc) and make sure it's sharp. dann2707
Also turn off the grinder every 1/4 revolution of the wheel and get rid of any aluminium stuck in the grinding disk to ensure youre getting a sharp constant grind.
brad1995
I'm not using a flapper disk I think i will try using a metal cutting disk and clean it every 1/4 of the wheel and if that doesn't work i will try a diamond cutting disk. Azarathal
I've had the same 6mm stone grinding disc for about 2 years, never cleaned it either and it still gives really nice sharp grinds that last me months. Really don't know how some people's grinds are that bad.
brad1995
I used to be decent at them but all of a sudden i'm rubbish !
Dan6061
Depends on what rim you have too...
onzatrip
im running an echo urban rim (rear) just in case anyone wants to know. You are doing it wrong, I have same rim, used the same disc for 3years, Try using a 60 degree angle with pressing and sweeping motion, thats how i do it and have some of the best ground rims ever!
