to go from a t-rex to a skye seems pretty ludacris to me  but if your good enough not to wreck it and are loaded go ahead lol

I love my T-Rex now it has Echo Urban forks, it changes the bike so much! The Skye was a dream that i am willing to save for!

Agreed. I prefer mine on the back wheel compared to my MK1 Fourplay and that's also running a shorter, higher stem than on my Fourplay. Seeing Ben Travis riding his this weekend and a few weeks ago goes to show it doesn't have to hamper any sort of 'traditional' trials ability.

Did you do a Chris?

Seems so. Not sure what it was that actually broke Chris's or mine for that matter, but exactly the same scenario. Felt like it was skipping ever so slightly. Took the wheel out of the bike and the free hub fell off revealing the snapped Hope axle. Just a bit of bad luck hopefully.

Hope axles snapping on the 12mm through is also common place on orange 5's and alpines.

It's a shame they don't offer a steel axle

Yeah I've heard that although tht hasn't happened to my 5. I think in the case of the 5 (and other 12mm through axle bikes) where the pro 2 axle has snapped was as a result of using a maxle lite as the tapered central section doesn't support the pro 2 axle. I use a standard maxle on my 5 and on my last check in over 18 months the axle is still in place so I'm guessing and hoping it was just a case of bad luck with the Skye. However I'd certainly use a steel axle if there was an option to irregardless of the weight.

What you should do is wait for the new inspireds / alis proto bike, then by the time thats released you will have enough money saved up and probably a better bike to ride imo.

Definitely the best choice. Inspired is stepping their game up by changing to chromoly. The Inspired chromoly frame/fork combo should be perfect in all matters. It will be probably stronger than the Skye and from the looks of it the geo is spot on. If it cracks, re-weld it and you'll have a frame for another year till you re-weld it again. Not the same can be said for aluminium.

Quote system is seriously messed up for me.

I think those bikes are going to be different. So i wouldn't say they are an upgrade, just an alternative depending on your style.
