Canardweb
So the weather is getting a bit better and I wanted to try double HS33 on a mod. The result is positive, I prefer it over discs. I had to use my Echo Lite 2011 frame and A Koxx Forxx forks. I must say having a longer mod is actually more comfy. I feel better on it on certain moves and I find it easier to force the bike on some moves. So here is the result: Concerning stock, this happened on the ZHI team and I wasn't the only one who it happened to; So after rebuilding the Koxx Boxx and riding it a bit on our new zone here in Nantes (article to come soon when it officially opens...), it decided to snap completely which wasn't a surprise seeing it was cracked. So I was left with the choice of buying a new frame again or using an old frame I had. I decided it was time to stop changing bike everytime and built up the Echo Pure 2011 with all my stock parts. But I wanted to work on the frame to make it lighter. I brushed it with harsh sand paper to remove some material, and I brushed it with smooth and smoother sand paper after until I got a kind of "shiny look". Then I made some modifications (holes) in the frame to make it ridiculously lighter. I then went into a comapny in Nantes which produces road sign and who works with 6061 aluminium. They have these huge baths of chromic acid. This helps protect the aluminium and give it a better look. It attacks the material too so it makes it look smoother. I left the frame for 3à mintues in one of these baths and it came outr with an awesome look. It is difficult to show it in photos but it gives a shiny anodised look. Rain Echo Pure 2011 frame and Koxx Forxx with steel steerer. That photo was taken inside the truck as the rain was pouring outside. Try-All Nuc Stem and Try-All Karbon bars Dual custom HS33 lever Kenda Karma front slick tire, HS33 with TNN LGM pads Echo platform 2011 pedals, Try-All Cranks, Trialtech half bash and Echo SL freewheel. All with the Trialtech HX Z610 3/32". Bonz rear hub, Onza diamond rim and Kenda Nevegal tire HS33 with LGM pads We can't see it on this photo but I have made a hole in the yoke to show the bottom bracket and shave some weight! I made a hole in the Yoke on both sides to shave some ridiculous weight! Custom Hole in the headtube I hope you like them! SamKidney
Both look really, really nice. Im really thinking about the idea of buying one of the Lite frames. Dont rate Try-All/ Koxx forks though. Snapped the steerer on one mod set, cracked the "Forxx" fork too. After hearing all the hype on the steel steerer fork, I got a set for my Ozonys 26. Cracked in a few weeks.
