dann2707
Is there anyway to make a mod feel longer? Or what could be making it feel so weird? It currently measures in at a massive 1010wb axle to axle and It just feels so fruity to ride. Got a bonz stem, trialtech high rise bars, 160mm cranks, Echo urban forks. Removed the two stem stackers in the pic and it made it feel much nicer ish. Also played with the angle of the bars loads too and to no avail. I've ridden a onza 320 limey and that didn't feel short at all Had two people on the same day at different times asking me if my cranks were bent? But they look fine and spin freely. I know its gonna be pretty hard to diagnose without riding it but any ideas what could maybe improve it? isitafox
Felt proper short when I had a go, you need an old zoo python. EDIT: Why don't you try some trialtechs? Edited April 27, 2012 by isitafox
dann2707
It would make sense me thinking it was too short if I was a lanky guy but im obviously not and it still feels like this haha
isitafox
I think short chainstays just scare me as the back end kicks under too easily. See above edit!
dann2707
Hmm. Id love to but they dont do a vee version. They are +15mm wheel base more than echo urbans too so would most likely help!
onzatrip
Only way to see if cranks are bent is change em to see, tried a lower stem with bars foward?? Longer stem?? Il pm you regarding bb tonight sorry ent replied
alex-trials-boy
You could invest in a trialtech 180*35 stem i know its only a slight change in geo to your bonz stem but it might be worth a try? or maybe more stackers? Im currently having the same problem with my limey 320, but hopefully a higher stem will cure it for me but tarty wont get the 180*35 trialtech in for another month so i might get the bonz stem, sorry for be slightly off topic but whats your views on you stem? well made etc? cheers fella hope you get your bike running to how you like it
Luke Rainbird
Longer rake forks will only move the front wheel out remember, they won't change your body position at all. I'm not too clued up with mod parts so if possible, a longer stem might help. Otherwise some bigger bars might make things a little better or you're going to be looking for a longer frame or an adults bike.

Il pm you regarding bb tonight sorry ent replied I had a lower stem on it before, the trialtech 150 x 35 and it really did made things cramped, I changed to the bonz stem and it made it feel much nicer, more relaxed rather than being hunched up. And my mates offered me his BB now man so going for that, cheers though anyway ! You could invest in a trialtech 180*35 stem i know its only a slight change in geo to your bonz stem but it might be worth a try? or maybe more stackers? Going from this stem changed the way the whole bike felt. Better, but still not perfect. Longer rake forks will only move the front wheel out remember, they won't change your body position at all. I'm not too clued up with mod parts so if possible, a longer stem might help. Otherwise some bigger bars might make things a little better or you're going to be looking for a longer frame or an adults bike. Ahh thats a good point yeah, It won't change the feel of the bike when on the back wheel for gaps and now i'm thinking about it, it feels good on the back wheel. Think im going to keep an eye out for a longer frame now / longer forks Edited April 27, 2012 by dann2707
Laurence--Trials
Thought about 175 cranks?
krazykid009
Looks pretty short! And is it me or do those forks look bent? Look similar to my mates and they were bent as feck!

TROYston
175mm cranks, bars with bigger rise. Bigger stem? though your bb will feel asif it was lower.
Duncy H
Longer cranks feel nicer than shorter ones. Tried fiddling with the brake lever angle? Do you have trialtech high risers on now? Use a longer chain to move the wheel back in the dropouts? If you want it to feel longer without being a barge, i reckon you'd be better off with a long stem with a smaller angle of rise, coupled with tt high risers that might help. Not quite sure why all the new mod stems have pretty much the same geo and have gone away from the old style geos.
liam n
Urbans didn't make much difference when i got them on my comp so, i don't think forks are gunna help much. the only difference between my bike at shipley any yours is I've always run 175mm cranks. if your's are bent maybe borrow some 175s to try em out then buy some. failing that, buy an echo lite 2011! omgnoseat
Try removing the spacers, the front end looks pretty high. Might sound stupid, but I've always felt that a high front end makes the bike feel shorter.
BradJohnson
Try a lower stem.

dann2707
Lower stem sounds like a nice idea! This is currently 175 x 35* Wonder what would be suitable. Cheers for all the replies though, awesome
Mark W
The only thing that's going to make it feel any different is changing the contact points with your bike. Wheelbase changes mean nothing at all in terms of how a bike feels, so the only way you can really get it to feel any different is by altering your bar/stem or maaaybe your cranks. I don't really see cranks making any noticeable change in how your bike feels, but your stem should. If you check out this website it should help you out in terms of working out what would be the best change to make to increase the reach overall. http://alex.phred.or...rt/Default.aspx The only stem I can think of off the top of my head that'd help would be the Echo 165 x 25 stem, but they feel pretty toss.
bing
my old zoo python was 1040wb,and it rode ace. yours does feel very short man, although it does hop very nicely. you should try one to see what its like. and it was +70/75 on the bb rise
BradJohnson
my old zoo python was 1040wb, Jesus man, thats long, Almost a Stock wheel base.
Alex Dark
Those comps feeel mint with a t-master stem. Liams felt pretty good with the bonz too, id just take the spacers out and run it as is, then just play with bar angle personally.
dann2707
I've removed the spacers out. Found out last night that one of my pedals is apparently bent?! Probably hasn't helped the awkwardness I feel when riding it. haha
SamKidney
Try rolling your bars forward a tad dan? Ive just rolled mine back to ride brakeless and the bike feels miles shorter. Im running the same bars and a stem thats only slightly shorter, but with the same rise as you. Trialtech highrise bars still seem to stay comfortable when ran a little further forward.
