williams
Hi everyone, this is a really pointless thread but I dont wan't the "HardMan" sh*t to be on the top. But I waterbled my Magura hs33 2011, which turned out really good. Many peopes say that it doesn't work good, and that's not true, so waterbleed if you can, because it's such a difference! kaarel
Yeah exactly, so much more responsive, and overall a nicer feel Good to hear that they work well with water. Was the bleeding process much different compared to last magura model?
williams
Good to hear that they work well with water. Was the bleeding process much different compared to last magura model? yeah so far so good It was almost the same, the difference is that you have to undo the barbed fitting on the lever so that 3 threads are shown, and then there's a plug instead of a screw on the lever to, but yeah preatty much the same. Just opened the bleed screw on the and plug and just started to pump with the original oil already in.
dann2707
Just keep an eye on the brake after it's been water bled. My piston ended up swelling loads and getting stuck solid after a while. And it's known to happen to quite a few others. The nylon expands when it's submerged in water. However i've known people running the same water bleed for, well, since i've been riding with them and had no problems. Really is hit and miss it would appear! I'm using phatfluid now and its proper snappy, won't freeze under bad conditions and has enough lubricity to keep the brake running perfect. And how do I check for a swullen piston? Is there anything else I can use? There's like 15% or less oil in the system and the rest water. There's like 15% or less oil in the system and the rest water. It shouldn't matter about changing water. If it's swollen you will feel it as the lever won't return, you will pull the lever in and it just stays there. People use anti freeze with no issues. As oil floats, my theory is if you're running some sort of oil:water ratio that the oil will be floating at the top of the system where the master piston is? That's a complete guess though as i've just typed that out haha. better than water?, i'm thinking of getting some Seems to be just as responsive as water, not sluggy as oil at all. I didn't mind oil in mine really, but a friend offered to give me some phatfluid in a bleed so went for that ! I don't want to shove it down peoples throats that water bleeds are bad though, just sharing my experience so people know "just in case" sort of thing if things do go tits up.
