supafly1982
Does frilling, grinding and generally modifying rims not weaken them? or is there rims you can and cant do it to etc? im new so dont have a clue to be honest but my logic is telling me to be wary due to the stress and forces put on wheels, im looking for a mod to get in to trials so need to be a bit more clued up cheers scott
iChimpp
Grinding doesn't, but drilling them could
Alex Dark
If you're removing material then you're inevitably going to weaken it in some way. Stay away from the spoke holes as much as possible. Singlewalling and hole squaring are normally pretty good at dropping the weight, i've done a few. And yes, when you grind a rim the sidewalls will definitely get weaker. Having said this a good rim with a smooth rider and light grinds could last as many as 20 grinds, so alls not lost
monkeymoped
:wizard: :wizard: grinds are always good in my book for increased brake grip although doesn't drop much weight at all where as drilling wouild but unless you know what your doing or know someone who can teach you i wouldn't recomend i've seen people left without wheels for a few weeks
