dann2707
After getting a bit sick of the colours on my Comp, and it getting a bit battered and showing every imperfection I wanted to go raw. Here is the original thread. Before. This is when it came back from the dipping shop, pretty dull. The guy said I wouldn't be able to get it shiny, and that it would require shot blasting. Obvious bullshit to try and get me to pay him more... Then after 3 different grades of wire wool starting from course to fine, along with some metal polish to get it shiny! Got the angle grinder with a flap disk on and sanding the cranks too as they were battered like the one in the pic. And whilst that disk was on the grinder decided to remove the side knobbles from the tyre as it looks pretty stupid having it nearly bald in the middle and tread on the outside. Left side done, right side not done in the pic. Mid building it up And all built up and washed. Oh and check out my uber ghetto headtube cut out, I actually feel dirty showing this picture as its a disgrace but it gives it my own touch hahaha. Few niggles though: • The bottom bracket is ridiculously heavy as its a standard onza isis one - so hefty!! Fitted a Tryall one, proper light • The front vee isn't smooth at all, the pins have broken and it feels a cheese grater to pull. Needs a new one asap. Got a new vee for £8! • It's still short as shit and feels horrible on two wheels - Decided that my bars are fine, but it's the small rake of the echo forks (+30wb) whereas trialtechs are +45wb which I think would be spot on. Fixed that now. • The pedals are battered and could be done with being rawed and painted or just left silver. Got wellgo MG1s now • The bolts I replaced with high tensile black ones have surface rust so im going back to stainless tomorrow! All replaced Cheers. ghostrider88
Fork rake has very little to do with the feel of the bike as it doesn´t change the reach.Well,If you ride with your hands od the front hub axle it might

isitafox
Done a great job of that, I reckon if you tidy up the pedals and the other side of the crank arms it'd look like a new bike altogether!
dann2707
Fork rake has very little to do with the feel of the bike as it doesn´t change the reach.Well,If you ride with your hands od the front hub axle it might I was under the impression the fork rake adds to the wheel base? so a fork with a longer rake would make the frame longer overall? Can you explain it a bit more? Cheers dave, I might caustic soda the back of the pedals as its inpossible to get to with the angle grinder swhy I didn't do it today, and this new vee ive bought should freshen the front end up more !! ghostrider88
That´s true,it does change the wheelbase, but the actual feel of the bike is more dependant on the reach/BB height and also cs lenght.WB as such doesn´t say much about feel of the bike/frame-example:Koxx sky 2 vs echo pure -1100mm vs 1085mm WB but echo with the same parts will feel longer/more roomy because it has longer reach(660 vs 665mm) even though based on WB you would expect exactly opposite. So if you want your bike to feel longer,I´m affraid your only option is bars(you have already long stem)or maybe shorter cranks(they look like 170mm,not sure of course about this) but I don´t think that´s very good idea either as you would sacrifice some power. err
bet that tyre smelled gooooooood while you were grinding the knobbles off? looks good man, wish people would stop rawing/polishing frames, makes me want to do mine! although you might want to work on that cutout a little more and radius the corners, because the cuts that are there at the moment could cause cracks. just a heads up
dann2707
Ghostrider - Its not the reach thats the problem, before I changed my stem it was, but when I got the longer stem it felt great. When im riding around and im.leaning over its fine, its just the front wheel feels like its too far backwards and im reaching over the front wheel too much. However a shorter stem is awful and im really hunched up. It is the forks thats making it feel lile gash. Everyone who gets on it says it feels odd. And its not exactly a bad spec. Cheers err, ill focus on getting them better tomorrow with some files.
dann2707
Ghost ive kind of done a crude paint to show what i mean, my "reach" seems ok right? but i just think where the red wheel ive painted on is where it should be to feel much better
ghostrider88
In that case you could try to get rid of the stem spacer first,it might help. Also consider fact that everything to front will be harder with fork with more rake Edit:in that screenshot you look relaxed, but I don´t know if it´s just me,but you look too upright,so^^^should do the trick. Greetings
I saw that and thought that to complete the picture you should wax your body and cover it in oil before each ride. No idea why. Polished frame - shaved and shiny body? No gay thoughts here. It's just that in porn films this oil is often used. Not that I watch porn, that's disgusting. Especially lesbians. I'm all about sex after marriage only.
