ben666
Hi all, K so I just got my MAD Phase 1.3 , it's in real good condition ... I've set the rear V up to my likings and it seems to lock up nicely ... However the front Tektro IO disk brake just wont lock up fully .... I've adjusted the cable tension to where it feels as though it should lock but it slips still ... any advice on how I can get it working nicely (on a low to non existant budget)??? Many thanks peeps! Blake
Chuck a bunch of water on the disk and ride around with the brake on, going down a steep hill will obviously help but it's important to just keep the brake on. Keep chucking on water and riding until it gets better! This helps to remove the crap surface layer that pads come have when they come out the factory. . . Hope this helps and hope it works

I know that with rim brakes you can tar your rims so I wondered if there's an equivalent method for disk brakes? Thanks dude I'mm going out for my first proper ride in about 8 yrs today (yes I will going somewhere quiet where I wont embarras myself too much lol)... I'll let you know how I get on
Miss-Higgy
Have you adjusted the pads and stuff? I ran one for a short while on my trials bike had the same problem. So my best guess is the calliper is poo I was using it with an XT lever and ashima elite disc cable. So the only thing that could let it down was the calliper. On the side closest to the wheel there's a 4mm allen key hole try adjusting your pad from there? Failing that save up for a bb5 or bb7 you can pick em up on here for about £20ish
