Rourke
Hi guys I'm on the onza zoot 2010 and I'm running the stock brakes except for heatsink yellow pads in the rear. I was looking for a more reliable brake that is also strong. I was looking into the magura 2005 hs33. Would I be down grading or upgrading? Or should I just upgrade my vees? Are 2005 s good? And once I put the whole adaptor on, will that also affect it? Would I also have to buy new pads also? Thanks guys
Danny00135
a lot of people swear by hs33 but you can get just as much power out of a vee, its all down to pads/how well the break is set up, only problem i've found is if its a "cheap" vee brake calliper it can break and ruin the brake, and the hs33 are a little easier to maintain I can't say i've used adaptors but I can't really see it adding too much weight to feel a difference, just as long as you have the booster on to stop it from pivoting around the v posts
bing
I run a vee on my ashton, on the front on onza zoot forks. it's like riding into a brick wall. the bite and hold is awesome. I run a dead grind on a dmr dv rim, with skyway v brake pads. on the back I run 04 hs 33 on an Evo2 mount with onza limes on a harsh grind. best of both worlds
old'scoolfool
and the hs33 are a little easier to maintain wow say what now? lol vee's are much easier in comparison less to go wrong and no faffing neccesary, i use mags over vees but no idea why as the pads have got just as good now
Miss-Higgy
Both great brakes! But in my opinion a V is easier to maintain.. And a slightly cheaper alternative if set up correctly!
dann2707
Much prefer vee up front, it just holds and holds. Although the bite isn't too great with my set up im not too fussed. I've had it nearly 2 years and its been hassle free, if it rubs you simply adjust the little bolt in the side and its up and running. Although when the SD7 decides to break the lugs, you can't do this and hence i've bought a new one.
