Your way isn't wrong but, if you tried to slow your hops down on the back wheel, you will find it much easier to get into the right place/position to take off. I'm the same so I plan on raising my bars in order to trick my mind! 6 pallets is pretty good though I agree with the hops and the tyre pressure, I was the same and it helped no end!
