robbie-woods
okay its really getting on my nerves now even if i pull the rear brakes a tiny bit it squeeks right away and when i put it on full it sounds awfull! ive got magura brakes with yellow pads if that makes any difference, there is loads of black rubbish over the rim but im finding it hard to get off. is there anything else that could cause them to squeek sooooo much? dann2707
A nice loud squeek is a good thing! In simple terms - it means your brake is working. The black stuff will most likely be tar, to make the brake bite. But tar is rubbish as once it gets wet you'll be slipping and sliding everywhere. Best thing to do is grind your rim. Lots of topics about rim grinds.

William trials
It's supposed to sound, this is because friction when you brake. This is only a good thing, and means that your brake works good. The black thing on you'r wheel is tar, I would reccomend you to use a angle grinder and grind the rim hope this helps//william
pogo
If you dont want any noise get a disk, as people have already said, it's supposed to make that sound, embrace the noise.
