dezmtber
i cant help but notice the loads of bike vids with people snapping chains. its made me think maybe i should be changing my chain way more often. i am thinking of buying a new chain every say 4 months or less. its not a lot of money realy a kmc kool chain is under ten pounds on the internet. and it could save months of the bike injured

dann2707
If it snaps I usually repair it with some spare links from the original bought chain.
Carlperkins
yeah i just ride it until it either snaps or is visibly cracking etc, or the links start getting stiff.

Topsy
probably every 5 months now.. I'd rather replace it every 3 or 4 months and be on the safe side but they cost about 20£ here... aener
When it starts snapping/coming apart regularly, or if it's done so 8-10 times irregularly. I know I should do it a lot more often, but Z510 HX's are so damn strong! Changed mine last week for the first time in over a year, and that was the skinny one!
Skorp
Change it when i think " oh, what if the chain snaps now" But somtimes, i trust the chain until it snaps.. My last chain, was a halflink wich TheKnut snapped twice (Norwegian guy, rode alot with tra before) used that old rusty halflink for 7months before it snappen when i was pedaling normal
Jeromboii
I change mine when it snaps. Think I should change it before it snaps as last time I was doing a drop gap when it snapped. Sent me face planting off like 10 pallets.

Matthew_Gibson
Depends how often I ride, But I always have a spare chain at home. Id say every 6 months for me normally. But as I shall be riding a lot more this year. Probably once every other comp just for peace of mind

Trials-Ziggy
I have rode mine till the very bitter end half the links were bent a couple links appeared to be crushed and the split link clip was missing. R.I.P unknown named chain you will be missed...
alistair14
i used to replace it every 3 months ..but my current ones been on there for about 10 months now! haha ..good old tank chains
SamKidney
I used to change mine based on when the stretch threw my brake alignment out or when the links began to slide towards the pin heads. But I ride stock with a sprung tensioner now so no more probs regarding allignent. Every 4-5 months seems reasonable.
