Calling Central Scotland Riders

Right guys,

Dominic Simmons, an Edinburgh based film maker, is looking for a 'street flowy trials rider' to be filmed for a part of an upcoming filming project.

Obviously details are a little vague at the moment but I'll edit this post when I get more info.

Edit: Filming will be between now and mid/end April during the week or weekends, possibly four days total filming (probably less). Riding won't be too spectacular, but may be technical, like big stair drop, hopping between and over ledges, fences etc.

If you are interested post up one of your videos or get in contact with Dominic directly via Twitter or Facebook.

Some examples of his work can be found here and below:

Hey,

I heard through a friend about the concept Dom is thinking of working to.

I'm pretty sure he wants to do a film on the similarities between DH on the trails and trials in the streets. For example, a Dh rider would rattle down a set of roots and a street trials rider would hammer down some stairs.

The one thing that puts me off (apart from the concept) was that he wants to film in Edinburgh. I really have nothing good to say about the street there. Sorry Edinburgerduns...

I think Dom would get much better results going a little further afield. My home town Cumbernauld and Glasgow's miles better :D

Edit: I forgot to say...Those DH vids are great! Loved watching them. Good tunes and really well filmed.

I'd definitely agree that concept is a little different from the usual street trials video (personally I don't see the similarities between DH and trials, apart from the opportunity to break bones).

Glasgow would probably be a better place to film it as there is more to play about on.

But if it lets someone get some really good riding footage then that would be great for them.

that being the concept....it seems that a half decent street bmx rider would fit the bill much better?!

dont often moves that a trials bike can do over a bmx that involve 'hammering' down stairs or the like...a tyre tap perhaps, drop gaps and the 360 things pivoting on the front (though only really on smaller stairs)

maybe im off the mark on whats wanted....?!

Ok , so here is the score...

I am doing a project for school that involves biking (teacher's idea). There are various 'concepts' within the video, but those don't really matter. The main plan is to have a mountain biker, in this case Scott Laughland, doing some trails/enduro riding. But my teacher also insisted on showing the urban side of bike riding. So I decided to have a look into getting someone that rides a trials bike, but does so in a smooth flowy fashion. This rider would be doing a range of trials based street riding, not too dissimilar to the style that Danny Mac has so famously ridden with. Basically hoping between walls, onto walls and that sort of thing. But also dropping of a set of stairs whilst doing a 180 or 360 or for example 'spinning' off the edge of a wall... (I know no technical terms)

Essentially the trials section of the video would be a completely different segment and not at all linked to the mountain trail riding. The only bit that, as Ross mentioned, would be I suppose similar, are in places to link the two different disciplines together. A way of doing that would be to shoot Scott riding or dropping down a bank of roots or rock, and then film the trails riding dropping down a set of stairs or something similar. There is not a close similarity in this, but the idea is that both roots and stairs (as an example) involve a drop and essentially stairs are the urban equivalent of roots...

The reason for filming in Edinburgh is simple, I live here, and it is easy for me to get to the centre and surroundings - especially with me still being at school.

So really, I am looking for someone that can ride fairly technical and I suppose challenging terrain, but also does so smoothly. As you can probably tell, I know nothing about trials, or street riding and have never filmed it!
