Aluminium clogs up grinding discs.

You want the grits of the disc to cut sharply into the rim and not the chunks of blunt, soft aluminium. It's therefore best to clean the disc surface on a piece of steel or stone (depending on the type of disc) after grinding approximately 1 foot of rim, exposing fresh, sharp grits again.

And pull the brake less.
