eskimo
Been wanting a camera mic for a while. Actually got round to looking at stuff for an hour or so. I'm looking at this one. Before i read up and watched some review videos i was under the impression that the shotgun mics had all background noise cancellation, i guess i was wrong for thinking that? As probably guessed it's for riding, riding alone, or at least that's all i give a crap about so much film wise. My camera is a Canon HF200, got a 3.5mm input and Mini Canon hot shoe (which i can get an adapter for it seems). Any input here? Budget wise, that would ideally be my max, my camera isn't pro and i sure ain't either. Ta much.
Joe O'Connor
In terms of frequency response that is very good for the price. Because its a shotgun mic you have to have it pointed at the subject and you will loose a lot of side and background noise. That's worth the price I would say
Sam Jones
if your looking at that sort of budget, go for it. its very difficult to find a noise reduction mic for less than £100 that is any good, Rhode make very good microphones and that one is a good little catch. id take it mate and use it. like you said, you don;t have a professional camera so why go for something completely over the top? manuel
I have that mic, and I like it. Cuts down wind noise a fair old whack over the onboard and is pretty directional which can be very handy. Biggest plus over all the onboards is the fact its suspended and semi isolated from noise from operating the camera (which on my manual focus lenses is a biggie) If you want to try it out before you buy it I can bring it out on a ride ? club_card
You've made a good choice I have this mic and for the price I don't think there's anything out there as good. The only thing I've had trouble with is a creaking sound from the rubbers that the mic picked up while recording, but I just changed them to the spare set and it seems to have gone now.
