Matt Vandart
I read on Tarty bikes: - Disc mount is set at +20 (#3 Hope caliper with 180mm rotor) and one piece with the dropout, with a reinforcing plate to aid stiffness. Please note that fitting a disc brake to this frame requires modification to the disc mount and the bracing bar itself, we only recommend it for experienced DIY mechanics! anyone know what this modification is? manuel
Pretty sure a hope goes in no mods it's just any other disc that's a problem My trials hope went in fine...
craigjames
It's just the bracing bar that might need modding if I remember right.
manuel
I just remembered I had a picture... I do recall having to do some serious facing of the mount on one of my effects.
ben_travis
My friend Got a cheap effect, wondering how one might go about adapting it for a saint 180mm brake! Would it require removal of the brace plate? I've not had a chance to properly look yet, but thought someone might be able to help
Revolver
I think it would be worth offering up the brake + adaptor to it. From that picture I suspect using an adaptor it might foul on the chainstay, so it wouldn't work. I don't think these frames work with BB7s at all. Matt Vandart
That sucks. So maybe the mod is for bb7. Edited February 26, 2012 by Matt Vandart
ghostrider88
That sucks. So maybe the mod is for bb7. It looks like avid wouldn´t fit in there even then because of the arm of caliper Edited February 26, 2012 by ghostrider88
cai
I tested out fitting BB7's to the back of my Effect today. 160mm and 185mm didn't fit because the arm of the BB7 hits the seat stay. Edit: I don't have a rear 203mm mount to try out but I imagine that wouldn't fit either Edited February 26, 2012 by cai
