Blake
Was tightening my bottom bracket on a ride the other week when chris borneo was saying how much torque it should be done up with, he reckoned it was around 40NM but wasn't entirely sure. Of course my bottom bracket has loosened again so I was going to use some thread glue along with my dads torque wrench, but what torque should I do it up to? Thank you! Sam T
Just do it as tight as you think you can go with a decent length bar without stripping the threads. If your not a girl it should be tight enough..
Rockman
anti-seize then 40Nm
Matthew_Gibson
To be honest, I've never torqued up a Bottom bracket. I use a 1/2inch ratchet and give it a good nip. I've never had one come loose on me. Personally I wouldn't use threadlock, could do more damage that good
Chris Borneo
Really surprised that's come loose already although I'll bet it stayed tight longer for havin the drive side done up tight. Starting to think thread locker might be a bit overkill and might be a real pain to get out. It really shouldn't need it. Might be worth giving all the threads a clean and a check over and then put it back in with some copper grease. Then give it some with the torque wrench. If the threads are all good, i'd give it about 40ft lb.
Blake
Yeah i think it's because we only had my Allen key to do it up with chris Unless it's the bearings creaking....
