i'd say the tech lever is the way to go, it allow's for bite point adjustment and reach adjustment quickly and easily, it has a flip flop design so can be used for front or rear brake, i'm running one on the front of my fourplay and it does a very good job.

in regards to the race lever, it does look nice but it seems as if hope are taking a step backwards technologically, i don't know whether it's because the tech level is no longer an economically viable route, and as a result there now going back to a more simplier design and possibly looking @ phasing out the tech lever, who know's?,

oh and the tech setup is also cheaper and also does'nt require a post to IS adapter.

ez.

They've also produced the Race lever for a while. The Race lever is lighter, so Hope seem to think that's what trials riders want. That's pretty much the only reason they're doing the "Trial Zone" brake with an adapted Race lever. Still infinitely prefer the Tech lever, as it seems do most of our customers, but apparently being a market favourite isn't really good enough to justify making a brake any more

EDIT: This was Mark.

  • 1 month later...

I've just been on the phone to Hope because I had a question about spares and I also asked whether the Hope Tech brake would be discontinued. They told me that they plan to discontinue it, but they obviously didn't say when. They said though that spares will continue to be available.

i have set of the new trialzone brakes.

a few bit i have noticed on them,

the lever blade is slightly longer than the race lever

the caliper is avalable in post mount, i have managed to get both brakes to run without any rubbing at all.

i find the braking power great they have never once creeped while i ride.

i havent used the tech lever on a trial brake yet.

although we have tech levers on x2 brakes and race levers on x2 brakes on xc bikes we use as test bikes. and i find the race levers feel much smoother as they have less contact points and pivoty bits to create friction.

and are a really nice lever imo.

again if any one wants to try out the trialzone brakes on my bike please feel free to ask me at blackpool or if you catch me out on the bike anywhere.

depends whether you are a weight weenie I spose.

You can get the old style levers to bite and reach the same as tech but obviously not whilst riding.

I have the tech levers on V2's and they are amazing, on my all mountain bike but for trials I dont think I would use anything other than BB7's, they are just so much better for trials.
