Hey i have been doing bike trials for about 7 months now and 1 trick i cannot figure out is how to pedal kick side hop i can side hop without the pedal kick and i can pedal kick without the side hop,

But whenever i try to pedal side hop i always seem to just go forward like a normal pedal kick i cant seem to make the power of the pedal go up,

Any tips ?

I think you're thinking about it the wrong way. Instead of thinking about pedal kicking, focus more on bringing your body and bike down to preload then throwing your weight upwards and across the object. Once you can master this you'll have forgotten about using your pedals and it'll just come naturally.

When I was learning side hops with the pedal kick, I found it really difficult to come to terms with the upwards, rather than forwards motion. The thing that helped me get the move dialled was to first learn gaps to front wheel. Once I had gaps to front on lock, I started to face further away from the object I wanted to hop up, forcing the gap to front into a side hop move. This really helped me to understand the weight transfer, dunno if it will work for you but keep at it because once you do get it, nailing the big hops (100cm+) is a lot of fun :)
