dann2707 Posted February 13, 2012 Author Report Share Posted February 13, 2012 The top bit didn't even fatigue in any way. the only reason it gave way at that mass was because one of the legs bent, we looked at it afterwards and it had a slightly hollow part to it. AND those legs had been on 3 previous prototypes of ours so stupidly we used the same ones. I reckon if we used newer legs we could have won. Oh well no one came close to the mass carried !! It seems a bit weird that they'd restrict the materials, and then penalise you for yours weighing more, surely that's just making use of your full resources? They didn't make use of them and made a bridge that wouldn't take as much weight.That is exactly what I was thinking! If they had used all the allocated materials to create more supports and re-enforcements they might have been able to come closer to your overall mass!
