did they even have high EP freewheels/hubs in the earlier noughties? cause i remember there only beeing eno's and acs claw back in 2006, seems mind blowing to try that shit on an "old bike" i've tried before, and no way could i get close to that performance on a bike like that...

Not sure of the number of EPs on the Megamo Equipe, they were keen on the front freewheel from what I remmember. Chris King were around back then but everyone I knew were genrally running hope hubs which had a engagement point every other day or so :-P (36 I think)

28 on the old Hope XC hubs

Back in the day ACS Claws were the freewheel to have, I remember when a friend got one and everyone else (me included) was jealous. Funny how times change.

Damn were they really that low! I remmeber aleays back pedalling before putting the power down so you knew where the EP was in the stroke. Caught up with Ed Tongue (you remmember him Al?) a few weeks back and he said he missed the old style EPs and liked the delay before the power came in - WTF? as the kids say these days. First time I tried a CK hubs I was blown away, also a shame Shimano didn't beef up the zero clutch hubs used on old Monty 26s - they were a revelation to. Anyway another great vid find by Scot W. I've got some old VHS I'd like to digitize of Marc Vinco and Thierry Girard at the ominsport palais in Paris from 1996 - was broadcast on Eurosport.
