Azarathal
New queation! Think I'm getting a rear king now, I'm wondering which 18t front screw on sprocket would be best to use in the place of my free wheel? And which spacer kit / rear cog would you recommend? Heya guys, with tarty close I thought I'd post here instead to help shead some light on this... Basically I absolutely love ProII rear hubs, they feel crisp, they're reliable and they sound amazing, after ripping the disc mount off of my front Echo TR hub I'm after a pair of matching ProII's and obviously going to be getting rid of my SL Freewheel. Now I've come to a problem, on the Tarty website it states "recommended 18-14 ratio with front freewheel only", I'm wondering why it's restricted to FFW? Cheers, Mikey. Ali C
Sprocket clearance. Freewheel teeth are further outboard (in that they're in the centre of the 'sprocket'), whereas almost all screw-on sprockets with a base worth using are offset inboard. As a result, they hit the BB yoke. I know of people running 16:14 (on the Pure frame - you could do 16:13 on the 24 I guess?) with a fixed sprocket setup, but 18t doesn't work. All the new Echo 24" frames being 116mm spaced probably won't help, unless you've got the frame already?
Adam-Griffin
I have a feeling it's something to do with the sprocket catching on the the frame. I guess you could possibly get away with a front sprocket smaller than 18t, but I wouldn't bank on it. How much space have you got at the minute with the freewheel? Edit: too late... Azarathal
Without looking I'd say I've got a bit of space, does it look like it'll be too much of a pain in the arse and I should just leave it?
N.Wood
Just keep everything as it is and buy a different front hub? Sounds like you're causing yourself alot of superfluous grief for nothing to me.
Azarathal
Getting a new front hub anyway, I just like rear ProII's Edited January 24, 2012 by Azarathal
ezgonzo
you'll be able to run an 18t tt sprocket on the front just fine and still have a few mm's to spare, the only downside you may have is ratio choice but you should be fine running 18-14 and possible 18-13,
Azarathal
New question! For reference I have the 135mm echo24 trial and have about 4-5mm freewheel clearance atm
