dave33
Do you have the same gear ratio?
monkeyseemonkeydo
Standard mod ratio's of old were 18:12 with 158mm cranks. How does your setup compare to that?
cai
160mm cranks are pretty much perfect on 20" trials bikes. Either ( A ) you two have different gear ratios, or ( B ) you may have a stiff bottom bracket. A ) The most popular gear ratio for a 20" is 18 tooth on the front (standard freewheel size) with a 12 tooth sprocket on the rear hub. Some people use a 13 tooth sprocket on the rear hub instead, this will give you a lighter/easier gear. B ) But perhaps its your bottom bracket that's causing things to feel heavy? Check that the bearings are okay if this is the case
Mark W
160s can make it feel a little harder to pedal, especially if your friend's got 170s or something like that on there. Personally, I hated the feel of anything under 165, and rode 175s on my mod for most of the time I had one. I just way prefer the feel of them, and the way it makes the gear ratio feel a little lighter, but you still get loads of power.
