Miles Mallinson
Any recommendations on a front 24 inch bmxy tyre, something good for sliders and such things. I was looking at DMR transitions, don't think I could stretch in price to a Odyssey or a KHE.
TrialsIsHard
Sean Watson uses the Kenda small block (I think) and it looks perfect for sliders and the likes, bit [read: extremely] pricey though :/ Edited January 15, 2012 by TrialsIsHard
CalopS
Doesn't he use k-rads? From the amount of times I've fallen over using them because they just washed out I'd imagine they would be perfect for sliding.

Hmmmm, I scrolled back to the CleanZine bike check and all it said was 'Kenda'. I'm using the smaller (1.75) holy roller, and it's let go in some pretty unwanted situations. As soon as I try sliders, it's grippy as hell
bike_dummie
He has a bike check video on his vimeo account, If remember correctly it is kenda k rads Edited January 15, 2012 by bike_dummie
Miles Mallinson
Yep he uses K Rads can't find them anywhere though. Most tyres will slide its just getting your weight back but a un-knobbly tyre will help, I am riding a moto r on the front just now and that has some give just not enough. Also a rear bmxy tyre would be handy for rear wheel sliders.
eskimo
Get something that is non-directional otherwise you'll find half your tyre gone.
Miles Mallinson
I think Supermotos might be the ones especially when they make my inspired looks like this (terrible editing skills) Edited January 16, 2012 by Miles Mallinson
TrialsIsHard
I think Supermotos might be the ones especially when they make my inspired looks like this (terrible editing skills) YES! despite the Paint skills, that looks amazing
Andeee
Holy rollers or hook worms?
Rich J
Hookworms are silly heavy. If you can get Tioga FS100s in 24, they can be rather slidey.
Miles Mallinson
It seems they only make Supermotos in 2.1, has anyone ran such a narrow tyre on the rear before?
Mark W
Ben Rowlands does/did. Sean Watson's K-Rads seemed fairly slidey, although getting hold of them now might be tricky. Quite a nice width though! The 24" Aitken tyres don't really seem to be quite as slidey. They've got a reasonable amount of grip to be fair, although personally I find them a little narrower than I like. Having said that though, I usually run Holy Rollers on 40mm wide rims which pretty much means it looks like I've got big grey balloons for tyres... Miles Mallinson
Can't find K Rads anywhere, going to go for the Supermotos just bought the supermotos, my rims are 35 so I think it should be reet with a slimmer tyre my Holy Rollers did roll on them abit. Luckily I have a £30 wiggle voucher from christmas and it turns out they have them. Win! Edited January 16, 2012 by Miles Mallinson

CalopS
Sean Watson's K-Rads seemed fairly slidey, although getting hold of them now might be tricky. Are they discontinued?
Mark W
They're still on both the 24" and 26" Elements so I think they're still around, I think they're just not really being sold aftermarket much.
Chris Borneo
God I wish they'd do gumwall Aitkens in 26". Just out of interest does anyone do decent 26" gumwalls? I'm not mad keen on the DMR supermoto tread and the Halo twinrails are a bit on the heavy side even for me.
Miles Mallinson
Charge make a tyre called a Splashback thats tan walled.
AndrewEH1
I should have replied on this sooner, I have a pair of Kenda K-Rads sitting at home, came on my Inspired when I bought it. The treads are in pretty good condition as I moved on to Holy Rollers as I found them not to be grippy enough Edited January 17, 2012 by AndrewEH1

Miles Mallinson
Got them today they feel good and look insane. Pictures don't really do it justice and I will soon have a black seat for her. Edit: They slide very well.
