trialsguyperth
a simple question but has been annoying me........ whats the main differance between the mounts being at the front or rear of the forks.... does it help with braking or what? Rabbia
The only difference i can see in having the brake behind the forks is that when the wheel rotates forward and you grab the brake the brakes grab the rim and are forced into the fork so it might aid with stronger braking compared to having the brakes infront of the forks where they will be pulled away from the forks. can't say from experiance as ive never ran brakes behind the forks but that is my opinion from looking at the setups. murph82
does it help stop them cracking at the brake mount if on the rear as its a compression type pressure instead of tension pulling the mounts away from the fork if they were on the front? (not an engineer but hopefully those terms aren't a mile off?) see below, Thanks! Edited January 17, 2012 by murph82
Matt Vandart
You would have thought so but no. the dude up there is correct, it makes the the brake much stronger at the cost of putting more forces on the fork and snapping them quicker, this is my opinion feel free to shoot it down. edit; and the forces are mostly torsional, not tensile or compressive Edited January 17, 2012 by Matt Vandart
