Andeee
I use gaspari nutrion products... great stuff! I use Gaspari Sizeon wildberry flavour 1 scoop with water ( tastes like kool-aid) as a shake whilst i train to repair my muscles from the previous session. I have gaspari Myofusion 1-2 scoops with water after training. My diet is pretty good actually i eat a lot of chicken, tuna, steak, salad fruit and vegetables and just drink water. I started training in June and weighed 15.7 stone... I now weigh 14.4 and feel a lot slimmer and also more strength and muscle in my body. I train 1.5-2 hours per day. Each day i have a set routine which part of the body i train. For weight training.. i do 3-4 sets in reps of 20,15,10 and unlimited... Each one of the numbers descending to unlimited is going up in weight. My training routines are: Mon - Chest and tris Tue- back and biceps Wed- Shoulders Thur- Caveman group class Fri- Legs Just thought id share what suppliments i take and my training routine Andy x Then i ride my trials bike and MTB a lot at weekends and evenings. konstant
There is some cholesterol in eggs, but not as much as there once was because the chickens are usually fed on a special feed now, rather than bone meal. Also, I've read that 1 tin of tuna per day is fine, but more than that can lead to health problems. So I eat one a day in my butties at lunch. That's really good to know about the eggs. I mentioned the mercury thing because one of my housemates got mercury poisoning in his first year. I didn't live with him then but he said he ate tuna everyday. I didn't live with him then but he said he ate tuna everyday. for 5 weeks before ibiza, i must've rattled through 15 tins a week easy. I dont know what constitutes mercury poisoning, but unless a symptom was dropping weight like hell, and being able to dance like a champ, I didnt suffer from it
Muel
Yes but you're a massive b*****d Kev. You weigh double what most of my climbing friends weigh, for example. I stick to 1 tin a day, seems to do me well. Cut down to 3 eggs, was on 6 but I thought it was a bit much. I'm currently on 100-150g of protein a day, which should be alright. Rich J
So say I want to try protein shakes, I have a relatively balanced diet but by no means am getting the maximum protein. Gym 3-4 times a week, what should I be looking at? Myprotein.com has been suggested but products?
ogre
if you do buy, hit up my referal code: MP492691 as for choice of proteins this is mp's generic protein, it's good value and nutritionally sound, banana isn't very tasty though. i'm using this atm and went out on a limb and bought 6kgs of it, i don't regret this. also theres this which is a premium one, and it's better if you cba to read the shpeil, i have no experience with it personally. i've also used this one which was fine to, leaves me feeling fuller than other shakes, i use it for breakfast if i'm in a rush sometimes. they do bundles where you set some pills and stuff, but you wanna spend some time reading the reviews and description to see which will best support your goals
alistair14
I used to have around 2/3 protein shakes a day ..but that was with work outs etc, now im out of cash and shake powder, its down to nothing :L

Gaz96
Found this, seems pretty good value for money? Also does anyone know where to get a 60g scoop? Edited January 13, 2012 by Gaz96
1a2bcio8
So what's everybodys tipple then? I recently finished of my promax diet, which made me shit horribly, and gave me violent mood swings, gonna sack of the diet and stick to normal pro max. f**k the diet stuff and I'd avoid maximuscle in general. It's like buying an expensive clothing label that's of no better quality than something cheaper. You;re just getting a name. You're essentially paying extra for the cost of their additional advertising. They also taste awful relative to certain alternatives. The promax diet has, if I remember correctly, 139mg of caffeine per shake which is the same as a relentless or some equivalent. If you read the reviews of it on amazon you find a fair few experiences where people have ended up in hospital after having panic attacks. That amount of caffeine is really not good for you both mentally and physically. I'm amazed that maximuscle recommend taking their thermbodal (sp?) tablets, with that much caffeine, upto three times a days. It seems morally dubious imo. I use phd these days and I think it's awesome because it offers basically the same as what I'd get from maximuscle but it's cheaper and significantly so if you wait for the membership deals at GNC. It also actually tastes awesome but that's probably because it has some carbohydrate in it rather than being almost entirely protein. I think it's the nicest flavour i've tried so far and seems to be the one i repeatedly buy.
1a2bcio8
I haven't yet but that's because I like the double chocolate cookie one so much I haven't felt the need to try anything else Now you've mentioned it though I might give it a consideration next time. Andy P
Not read much of the thread but I thought I'd chip in for the past 2-3 weeks I've been on 7 meals a day consuming approx 350-400g protein (mostly from food - I'm only getting 36g from a single daily shake) and I probably average about 110g of carbs daily most of which are consumed before mid day. Calories are generally quite low (around 2000)

Gaz96
So narrowed down my choice thinking between This or This Any recommendations, the first is for lean muscle where as the 2nd says muscle and size, aslong as I dont take to much of the 2nd one it wont make me bulk up will it?
fredrico
How much protein per shake??? Seems a lot, no? 2 scoops a shake, mixed with L-glutamine and BCAA's. Half way through a 6 month bulk so not too fussed on the intake lol.
MonsieurMonkey
Would it be worth me using protein shakes. I don't want to be anything like big. But just going to the gym, looking more towards cardio as well. Would I get any benefits (I'm thinking maybe quicker recovery?) Or would it all go to waste? Davetrials
Protein shakes wont aid you if your just playing cardio, its just good old fashion excercise for you!
MonsieurMonkey
Let's say I was working on sprints too. Would it help increase the size of my legs more quickly, meaning I could sprint faster, or would it be negligible because it's not mass building. Protein is important for aerobic exercise particularly if it's either short/intense and long/slower although often our improvement at running relates more to efficiency of movement (Nervous system muscular co-ordination) rather than an increase of muscle mass - so you need less protein than a weight lifter. Really though you'll want a powder that includes a decent amount of carbohydrates because you need to replace muscle glycogen (the form energy is stored in the body for aerobic exercise) you deplete whilst exercising. Not replacing this quickly can leave you f**ked the following day compared to replacing it both during exercise and immediately after. Also, apparently we absorb carbohydrate better whilst it's in the presence of protein at a ratio of 4:1 (?) or something like that. When I was training for triathlon recovery shakes were definitely very helpful. I recommend them but they should always be backed up by a decent diet. MonsieurMonkey
Cheers guys. Guess I can leave it then, just make sure my terrible diet improves for a short while Dunno where the general fitness thread is so I thought I'd ask here. I can't run long distance at all, its not that my body can't, I just get this horrible pain where my foot joins my ankle. Like on the top at the bottom of my shin, its almost like I've not stretched properly or I'm running wrong. Any ideas?

I can't run long distance at all, its not that my body can't, I just get this horrible pain where my foot joins my ankle. Like on the top at the bottom of my shin, its almost like I've not stretched properly or I'm running wrong. Any ideas? Just one foot or both? You're probably running 'wrong', but almost everyone does and it's down to footwear. Basically, there are 3 different ways that your foot can hit the floor. There are 3 main types of trainers that cope with each of those to 'correct' the way your foot strikes the floor to allow you to run in the most comfort. The way you find out which you need is to go to a running shop and get yourself a 'Gait Analysis', they film your feet from behind on a treadmill and then play it back to see how you're doing then advise which type of shoe you need. They'll also see if you're just running like a 'tard. I get my gait analysed each and every time I buy a new set of trainers, because it does change over time too... MonsieurMonkey
Both feet, similar amount of pain. I sometimes get it if I walk fast for a long time too. I think it's purely technique, or maybe it's because running on a treadmill is the most awkward thing ever I just can't do it at all.
