Greetings
Ok one last question, is it ok to run that fork with such a stem? Or does the clamp height need to be longer?
ghostrider88
Ok one last question, is it ok to run that fork with such a stem? Or does the clamp height need to be longer? Koxx team uses try all 150mm stem, this one looks almost identical.
Azarathal
Does the Try-All stem have a sloped top cap though?

Greetings
Ordered, looking forward to getting them. If the Tarty boys are reading, will a 127mm tube/headset height be ok? If not then I'll change the frame but I rather like the Echo... Edited January 8, 2012 by Greetings

Greetings
If you want a warranty, no. So a stem stacker won't help?
dave33
So a stem stacker won't help? Please note: Stack height of head tube and headset combined must be a minimum of 135mm. Using a combined stack height less than this will invalidate your warranty. what it says on tartybikes, but they need to make it clear, it doesnt mention any thing about using stackers. but you can always buy a headset which is bigger/taller.. the more cantacting the steerer tube the better, would spread the force out with less of a shear point hopefully adam will set us clear on this. also question for adam. does it matter what headset you use? as the echo ones have a very shallow bearing which doesnt contact the steerer much. AdamR28
Given that it doesn't mention headset spacers, I thought that would be a clear enough sign that the height doesn't include headset spacers, but I shall try and come up with another way of putting it without making it even more confusing. Yes, you could use a 'taller' headset. Headset doesn't matter as long as the stack height is 135mm or over.
bike_dummie
If you can't find a tall enough headset and want to stick with the echo frame you could always get a machinists to make one to fit you current headsets fittings, not sure how much it will cost though? Would be easier and cheaper to make longer insert though.

Aluminium tube you insert into the steerer tube to prevent it from cracking/breaking.

Has any one seen how Gilles has hi forks and the steerer bit he's made ? Could always do that

Quite like the idea of a short low-ish bb frame.

Yes, you could use a 'taller' headset. Headset doesn't matter as long as the stack height is 135mm or over. the only problem with that is on alot of headsets you have the bearing then a bit which is a spacer on top of the wedge which isnt doing any thing what so ever, just a spacer. and the only thing giving it a decent fit on the steerer tube is a rubber o-ring. for example of the hope headset its just a spacer. number 7 in the pic. i know on some its actually tappered to locate into the bearing like on a king,so any one running a hope headset is basically running a 5mm spacer? where do you draw the line? AdamR28
Dave - we both know that headset system is obsolete and rare and you are just trying to create friction for the sake of it. We can offer no warranty if people prefer (Koxx don't give us one), that would be simpler?

No just trying to get to the bottom of an unclear area, people are asking about these forks, and they are unclear with what headsets etc and frames to use. You don't want people buying them, breaking them and then finding out they couldn't use so and so. Moving the goal posts.. Maybe a nice diagram on the site would explain best ? After all it's the law to provide a warranty as your the retailer? Why would koxx offer a warranty ? Tartybikes are the retailer, I find it funny how tartybikes hide behind the manufacture! AdamR28
'Please note: Stack height of head tube and headset combined must be a minimum of 135mm. Headset spacers do not count towards this measurement. Using a combined stack height less than this will invalidate your warranty.' - I don't know how you can say it isn't clear. The goal posts haven't been moved. We are within our rights not to offer a warranty on this item, have a look at the Sale of Goods Act 1979. Dave, I don't know why you have such a problem with Tarty/me, but if you want to speak about it, you know how to get in contact. This is the last time I will comment on this thread.

I don't know why you think I have a problem with yourself or tartybikes! I simply asked some questions, of course it's a bit unclear or there wouldnt be all the posts from others saying there confused! It's not just about warranty, it may cause injury to some one running these with a headset thats to low when the steerer snaps ?
