bing
quick geo notice, my zoo python mod is 1040wb and +75bb, and my dmr drone dj bike is 1035 wb and +45bb. i`ve done a measure on the bar height from the ground, and they are only 10mm different to the dmr`s favour. dmr is on 24" wheels, to say they are roughly the same geo, they ride very very differently. ok admittedly the dmr is heavier, but is still very hard to hop about on. i would have thought with the dmr having bigger wheels, it would have been ok to hop round on but this is not the case, my old onza hitman stock was +50bb, can`t remember wb, and that hopped around really well. just suprised more than owt, thought i`d share it. cheers from dan
Andeee
Those measurements of the b.b height for them bikes seem high from what id expect . You sure you have measured it correctly? EDIT: Don't most b.b heights associate with the front hub for the rise etc??? and of course measurement? correct me if am wrong like... Blake
Considered chainstay lengths?
Ali C
I'll be surprised if your dmr has a +45mm bb, if it does you must have some bloody long forks on it! Wheelbase is such an un-important measurement when it comes to how a bike rides you can pretty much ignore it. With regards to why bikes don't ride the same, the bb height is just one aspect out of many. For one moment lets pretend the + 45mm bb you said is correct, the chainstay length, head angle, reach will all be different. The DMR will also be heavier and is likely to have sus forks which adds more weight and a taller, slacker front end. Long chainstays are worse for rear wheel balance, as is a short reach and tall, slack front end, that's probably why it felt worse to backhop than your mod and the Onza. bing
if i`m measuring it right, you put a straight edge across the 2 axle ends and measure the centre line to the centre of the bb. was just wondering like. yeah its got 100mm travel marzocchi dirtjam pros on, it is quite tall on the front. wasn`t reading into it too much, i`m a relative noob to trials and just wondered about it all. cheers from dan.
