konstant
Whats peoples opinions on the echo tr disc brakes? Good bite, mediocre hold with standard pads, light, pretty, levers are very prone to damage. Power is fine with Hope Pro pads.
Azarathal
bike_dummie my brake is cheaper than that link, comes with nearly brand new pads + rotor, has a perfect bleed and isnt contaminated.
Laurence--Trials
I don't know if i'm a little too late suggesting this but perhaps Avid Elixir 3 i have the elixir 7 on my limey and I'd recommend it anybody. the technologies are pretty much the same taper bore, air trap system ect ect apart from lever body being bulky and ugly (in my opinion) its a good brake. http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk/avid-elixir-3-disc-brake-180mm-front-oe-id67848.html - (I do work for J E James cycles but at £54.99 i'm hardly doing my pushy salesman pitch) - a little more information on taper bore. on last thing. it comes in post mount only so with the £10 your saving you might need an relevant adaptor. Hope iv'e helped. Rick. The video only shows that it stops air getting in, thats all i understood from it anyway What's not to like about a BB7...? You set them up right and they work too good. I've had one before, it was good once then it just went bad, no idea why, no oil got onto it, after that it was never the same, either way i would like to get a new brake, a hydraulic one. Good bite, mediocre hold with standard pads, light, pretty, levers are very prone to damage. Power is fine with Hope Pro pads. Thanks. Thanks to everyone who's helping me with this btw. Laurence--Trials
Just curious about this, how much do the shimano saints achually weigh? (getting ali c's brake whatever it weighs, just curious) Because i found on some sites it says they weigh 300g http://www.vitalmtb.com/product/guide/Hydraulic-Disc-Brakes,11/Shimano/Saint,1573 and some say they weigh 670g http://www.ridemorebikes.com/shimano-saint-brakes/ 370g is a fair variable, can anyone say which is more likley to be right, getting a little confused here. err
by the looks of it the first one doesn't include the weight of the disc or hose
LukasMcNeal
I've read this thread if you want a brake that works give up on the weight factor please! Here's my advice get a hope, you don't need a new tech trial one your being fussy IMO, people are selling hopes on here for around £60-80... You can't really go wrong and people are selling front and rears just offer them a price for the front one simples? You want a trials brake so go for one trials specific then there's less messing around, if you've only got £65 I'm sure you can scratch together another £15 from other spares you got. So yeah hope. Laurence--Trials
I know it doesn't matter, putting it in tonnes makes is sound really small

Laurence--Trials
Bump on this, Got ali c's old saint on my bike now, however the pads are contaminated so which ones will i need? http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=53390&PartnerID=2812&awc=2698_1326060033_8e361898b45337cb93e80153a50d9448 Didn't know if aggressive or burly was better than caramic for trials use? Or would these be better? http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=44280 Or link to all the saint pads: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/SearchResults.aspx?Search=shimano+saint+pads Would be good if someone could find me cheeper pads which are just as good. Also while im here, whats the difference between: organic, caramic and resin? Edited January 8, 2012 by Laurence--Trials

davidbarr
Ceramic- pros- fade at a higher temperature than resin pads better performance in wet conditions last longer Cons- louder longer break-in time not as much initial bite heat is conducted through the caliper, not the rotor Organic- Pros -Quieter -Shorter break-in period -More initial bite -Prevent heat buildup -Pushes heat back into the rotor Cons -Wear quicker -Not as good in wet/muddy conditions That was copied from pinkbike. Organic and Resin pads are the same.
