Laurence--Trials
Right after my avid bb7 packed up, and the clarks skeletor brake is shit (i didn't pay to build it up i just got parts from work) I'm after a HYDRAULIC disc brake. Some of you may have seen my topic havn't been offered anything really, so going to try and buy new. I've got about £65 to spend, i've heard the shimano Deore Disc Brakes are quite good, as in this topic its got servo wave for extra power, i've been researching loads to come down to this final brake, would it be a good choice? Also, it comes with resin pads thats the same as organic, right? As in organic used for trials? Thanks for any help anyone can give me, you guys know how fussy and awkward i am. This is the brake i'm talking about: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=67246 Edited December 29, 2011 by Laurence--Trials
Ali C
servo-wave doesn't necessarily mean extra power. As I showed in the Saint topic servo-wave means the lever alters the leverage ratio from low (plenty of pad clearance but little power) to high (not as much pad clearance but normal disk power) as you pull it. Having said that, it's perhaps the best hydraulic brake you're gonna find for that price range.
Laurence--Trials
Oh thats confusing So i should go for it?
AdamR28
it's perhaps the best hydraulic brake you're gonna find for that price range. ... But if you want ultimate performance, don't buy one.
Aidan97
I've tried these front and back and there better than both my magura's with heatsink yellows on a grind. Although I wouldn't recommend them on the back as ive seen someone's caliper mount snap after a month of buying it.
Laurence--Trials
I'll be using it on the front of a trial tech fork, so won't be snapping any frames
Kenny--Trials
If you do get one, don't take it apart to try and make them better. It just makes them worse. Edited December 29, 2011 by Kenny--Trials
Laurence--Trials
When do I ever tAke hydraulic brakes apart? What other brakes would people suggest if this one isn't good enough then? Don't know if it helps but I only weigh 9 stone.

bike_dummie
I've seen front saints go for £50 on eBay, sure you could find one if you looked hard enough especially as its Christmas.
Laurence--Trials
I am looking on there everyday but i thought they'd be less likley to be on there considering its after Christmas.

RickyBrown
I don't know if i'm a little too late suggesting this but perhaps Avid Elixir 3 i have the elixir 7 on my limey and I'd recommend it anybody. the technologies are pretty much the same taper bore, air trap system ect ect apart from lever body being bulky and ugly (in my opinion) its a good brake. http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk/avid-elixir-3-disc-brake-180mm-front-oe-id67848.html - (I do work for J E James cycles but at £54.99 i'm hardly doing my pushy salesman pitch) - a little more information on taper bore. on last thing. it comes in post mount only so with the £10 your saving you might need an relevant adaptor. Hope iv'e helped. Rick.
