bike_dummie
hi, Recently i have had problems with my freewheel becoming extremely stiff to turn in one specific spot it also makes three clunks at 3 o'clock when free-wheeling? I have tried soaking it in GT85 for 24hours as I have no freewheel tool. Any suggestions to fix my problem or is it time for a new freewheel? SamKidney
Mine did the exact same thing. 3 days later and it started skipping really badly. I soaked it in GT85 to no avail. Buy a new freewheel before you hurt yourself
Chris Borneo
Definitely sounds like it's worth investigating further. Local bike shop may be able to take it apart and have a look for you, if you want to avoid buying a new one? Might work out more expensive if it is knackered though. craigjames
Might be worth taking it apart to have a look to see what's going on, but bare in mind that there are no spares available new for these freewheels, so if you've broken something you maybe be looking at a new freewheel or second hand parts to sort it. This is assuming that it is outside of warranty? Where did you get it from and how old is it?
