Bought our son a Almost mint Onza Bird, Cable operated brakes, disc front norman V brake rear.

Wouldnt let him ride it until today as its for christmas.

I bought my self an old Onza T Bird, Magrura rear with Tectro front V brake, he has had a couple of goes of mine and has done well.

He dosnt like the ride of the bird and says the brakes arnt as sharp as my old T bird.

Any ideas is it us or is this lesser spec older bike better for him, is his instinct right? Hes a BMX rider

Magura brakes have more bite than vee brakes do, which is why the brakes are sharper, however vees have better hold.

What pads are you both running? If he's running standard black pads i would recomend some £5 onza brake pads off tartybikes.co.uk, i used to run them when i had vee, if i went back to vee i would defiantly use them again.
