D Rock 45
Hey havent been on this fourm in a wile. Will post an up date of my bike soon, mabey some vids. Still abit sketchy when riding but a big biiiig improvment from last year. My question is can you file the small tabs of the magura brake clamps so you dont have to use the anoying plastic clips to set my brake up, so its like the TNN's and clamp strate on to the cylinder. Used TNN's before just didnt take to them.
dann2707
I did a similar thing to some Echo 7075 clamps that required washers but using a file took me ages! So got them milled down, makes sure the edges are nice and flat then too. Works a treat and I can't believe I've used washer clamps for so long now, absolute doddle to set up now. Made a thread here about it here if its any help.
D Rock 45
thanks ye this exactly what i want to do, does it clamp fine with the camps being rounded an the cylinders flat if thats makes sense.
dann2707
Yeah it does, I know what you mean, so its like not crooked? I seriously would consider taking it to an engineering workshop as with a file I kept seeing myself taking more off at one side and thus not being square to the mounts. D Rock 45
save me the time of finding a engineering place, my uncle has a workbench stone grinder also how much should i take of them to get a good clamp ? or wont it matter as long as there even
dann2707
I really doubt you'd be able to get a flat surface using a bench grinder?
D Rock 45
might be worth a try i just wont go mad taking loads of, can use the side of the stone.
SamKidney
So long as you take off enough material, it shouldnt matter if its not 100% flat. The clamps contacting the slave will mean the clamps are square anyways.
dann2707
Thats actually a great shout by sam, when you think about it, the rounded bit is touching the cylinders first rather than the flat part of the mount. so yeah, as long as you reduce the inner diameter of the clamps you should be good either way. oh shit when i re read ur both sam i basically just said what u said, sorry haha. beef.
