J Trials 31
Well, I'm up for a new chain. Wondering what you guys are using and what you think is the best quality for the money out there. I tend to not change my chain as often as I should so a long life would be a nice factor, I don't want something overly heavy, but I'm not too worried about weight. I'm sure drilled out and super light chains dont last too long right? Also this would be for a mod (standard gearing 18-12)

Chris Borneo
ROHLOFF S-L-T 99 £40 at Triton so a bit spendy compared to the KMC but it's heat treated so it's strong as hell! If chain life span is more important than cost, this could be a contender. Edited December 23, 2011 by Chris Borneo
Mark W
The Z610HX chains are heat treated too. The Rohloff's probably going to be better quality at that price, but I generally prefer replacing my chain pretty frequently so I usually prefer keeping the price down if I can! Ali C
a Rohloff chain put me in hospital, it was quite a strong high end one and the plate snapped sending me onto my stem groin first....not fun! Another vote for the Z610HX
Chris Borneo
The Z610HX chains are heat treated too. Don't think they are but I've used em before and they're pretty strong. Rolhoff definitely last longer though, provided you look after them of course.

Another vote for the Z610HX Harsh! Those kinda trips to hospital are never any fun! First one I've heard of snapping though. Seen loads of KMCs snapped but to be fair, a lot of that's probably down to the number of people who use em.

Chris Borneo
I stand corrected. I've yet to see a post from you where you don't argue with people that clearly know more than you. Sorry for not being a sheep.
J Trials 31
Wow! Lot of votes for the Z610X! Anyone used the new Echo TR chain? I expected to see a lot of votes for the KMC Kool chain.
