mr.tattoo
hey guys 2010 onza zoot forks are cracked, ive got an old pair of onza wiseguy forks old school type, will these be ok on the zoot or are there specific 24" forks for them? also will hs33 with evo mounts be better then the shi**y v brakes that are on it? cheers
FamilyBiker
pics of the crack?
Luke Rainbird
Those forks should do the trick, but obviously if they're 26" forks any rim brake mounts will be in the wrong place. As for the brakes, there's probably not a huuuge amount in it but if you've got the Magura there it might be worth a punt.
J Trials 31
If your running a 26" fork your only option is a disc

mr.tattoo
i hate the crappy v mount adaptor things they always look pissed lol. will a decent v brake with a grind be good enuf as last v brake i rode rear it sliped and i slamed my back hard
Luke Rainbird
A decent, well set up vee will be easily as good as a Magura
mr.tattoo
i like the solid on/off type bit of the hs33s, rode a few rear vs (cheaper types) and they felt realy spongy, will a decent rear v with booster feel snapier or are all vs a bit spongy? cheers
Luke Rainbird
Generally a vee will be a tad less bitey than a Magura but has epic amounts more hold. It can take a ride or two to get used to, but it's a lush feeling when you do and bite's not so essential on something streety like a Zoot. That said, if you're running a grind and a booster I doubt you'll see much drop in bite if you run a decent set of pads (but then you loose modulation in the same way a maggie does of course) That said, there's always an element of personal preference involved here as some people always seem dead set that one is better than the other, though I highly suspect that's down to not having ridden a well set up vee/magura so 'preferring' the other. Horses for courses. If you can try a few brakes out then I'd advise it - whatever you get just spend the time getting it right and you won't go far wrong
J Trials 31
I would def stick with the vees, running a maggie on those dreadful evo mounts is just... well dreadful haha
mr.tattoo
thanks guys all im worried about is a few times ive laded on rear wheel and brake hasnt held enuf and its looped under me, i cant bare anuva trip to a&e lol. if a decent vee setup and decent pads will hold when needid then il go for that. never had a streety bike before so not sure how il like it lol not sure a grind will be great on a street bike as itl be on/off ? maybe a smooth rim and decent pads is the way to go for these typeof bike? i just dont wana hop on or off something and the rear give and shazam! Luke Rainbird
Probably worth giving things a try with a smooth rim first I guess, since you can always throw a grind on later and all
philgresty
the only v iv ever ran was an avid single digit 7 on the front, on a grind, with rockman blue cnc pads was far better than any magura iv ever ran, masses of bite and hold, with a good set up and a booster v's are just as good as maggys
crashbanggg
On my Zoot iv stuck a booster and a set of inspired pads on the back, just as good as my Magura on my old bike in the dry (not quite as effective in the wet) but seems to hold my 12st ish lump in a relativity upright position
