Canardweb
So I already posted some pics but this is the final build with the final parts as I had some troubles finding the tires I wanted. Spec: KOXX Sky 2 V2 frame with Sky 2 headset and Try-All Forxx steel steerer 4-bolt fork (I love that fork and it took some times to get one). Try-All Hole No War rim on Trialtech hub with Sapim spokes and Kenda Nevegal Stick-E compound on the rear (best rear tire ever). Try-All Hole No War rim on Try-All hub with Sapim spokes and Maxxis High Roller eXCeption series compound on the front (grippiest tire ever). Trialtech Sport Lite Bottom bracket (smooth!) with Try-All Lite cranks, Trialtech Half Bashring, Echo SL freewheel, Wellgo Magnesium pedals with steel axle, and Trialtech Z610 HX 3/32" chain. Try-All mod stem (150mm x 30°) with Try-All Karbon bars and Trialtech foam thin grips. Double Post 2005 HS33 with sanded levers and Try-All CNC TPA (and modified lever body so it doesn't crack) with Rockman CNC pads and Try-All CNC brake clamps (...rusty steel bolts...). Pics: What do you think? Edited December 4, 2011 by Canardweb
SamKidney
I love that! Has to be my dream frame. Im surprised you didn't go for Stiky Lite Tyres though. I've found them to be amazing when It comes to grip and stability, But hey, personal preference and all Looks lovely

It's just too expensive and it sometimes folds...
craigjames
Looks tidy, those forks are so much more confidence inspiring than alu steerer forks. Surprised by your rear tyre choice, switching from that Kenda to the Try All I found the latter to be much much more stable and less pinch prone, whilst still being just as bouncy. Really, I prefer the Kenda over the Try-All because of the weight, the stability and the price! Thanks everyone for the comments so far. N.Wood
Nice ride, but those Maxxis tyres are grippy? They're one of the least grippy, least predictable tyres I've ever run
Canardweb
At 1,3 bars they are the best front tires I have used after the Kenda Karma
Rusevelt
Did you previously own a custom Marino stock with very simular geometry to the Sky2, but gave up on it because you couldn't get use to riding it, or am i confusing you with someone else? Just wondering what happened to that frame..
Matt Vandart
I know I'm shit an all but i found that front tyre to be pretty good myself.
N.Wood
Fair one, its got a hard centre tread (~70a) with softer (62a maxxpro) side knobs, neither of which are very grippy. But then I do ride alot of natural and find even a 42a maxxis or Try-all stiky slip on some of the stuff I ride, so would be fine for dry, grippy rocks and street. But I found on street, it was unpredictable and as its so light never felt 'planted' on taps and stuff. very light though
Jo Prattley
holy shitballs thats the nicest bike ive seen ever ever ever !!!!! (apart from mine ? ) im running a kenda small block 8 on mine and it seems to be a winner so far .. failing that in the summer turn a try all into a slick .. by far the best tyre ive used in the dry ! Just wondering what happened to that frame.. It was me. I suppose the way steel reacted was different. That Marino was not as rigid as this Sky 2. It takes a lot of time to get used to it though... bogdan_vtt
amazing look, setup is the perfect combo, ever !!! -but i`m just curious, the version2 of the sky 2 - brings what differences compared to the first model I`ve noticed the splited tubes near the head (wich makes it look better) but also another geo or weight ??? In rest, Ride it well buddy Cheers

Canardweb
Just do it if you have a high BB bike (I mean more than +60) and if you are tall (I mean more than 1 m80)
