Chaotic3vil
Sweet stair gap to manual! Quite a struggle gaping with such a short wheelbase bike. Whats the geo? Edited November 30, 2011 by Chaotic3vil
LEON
Cheers! Yeah it's a real pig to static gap. it's 1015 wb, -10bb, slack head angle. TGS suicide!
Rusevelt
Some brutal looking stacks/bails. Last one would look epic in slo-mo.
JDâ„¢
That was nice... Does this mean that these moves got stuck and we can expect a proper vid sometime soon Leon? Cos that'd be something to look forward to
LEON
Thanks again! Yeah I'm currently filming a much bigger better vid than ever, I'm rushing to get everything filmed while the weather's not quite fatal. There's 1 gap I'm absolutely shitting myself over, it's a fall &die type gap but I've wanted to do it for about 5 years. These crashes were filmed on 2 rides in southend, both where my brakes failed me, wheels buckled, brakes wouldn't stay tight and I pretty much just gave up. I got more crashes than footage that day. But I'm riding my 24" full time now & it's much more me. I'm hoping to have the new stuff done in 2-3 weeks, my cameraman's only free saturdays sundays. I stuck the sandy curb up to wall in the end, I've done the rail to rail gap years ago on my gu, but on such a short bike now I think it's just out of my reach, as soon as I kick off my thighs hit the bars. I landed the double stair drop too, before the crash, but it's nothing special so I'll leave it out. I have a few clips from that day I might put together. JDâ„¢
Looking forward to it then, something a bit different as usual from you. It's almost like that geo forces a certain style from you, and it works
old'scoolfool
1.30 to catch the bars and flick it over your head was just epic haha im a bit of a hypocrite because i dont wear a helmet but you should defo wear one for jumps like the last one Edited November 30, 2011 by old'scoolfool
dann2707
Ouch last one looked painful! That lens on that camera really hurts my eyes lol
LEON
Cheers JD, I always enjoy your feedback, you've been here even longer than me! You're right, I always stick with the short bikes as nothing else works, I tried the tgs thing, I'm not that flexible, I can't tuck, I've never sidehopped over about 42" (that was on a zebdi lol) It's just not for me, but my 24" marino is heaven, it's even MORE me. During this vid I was switching between the two and it wasn't a good idea. Old' scoolfool you're right, I really should buy a lid, in my defense I have very good reflexes...lol. kaybs41282
Oh that last one looked like a painful one. Cool little vid, really looking forward to your upcoming one
LEON
Cheers! Yeah I couldn't ride for 3-4 weeks after that, my right arse cheek went completely purple/black & I missed the end of summer
Sam Nichols
On the other video where you make that last gap it's still a bit sketchy! You need to stop being so trialsy with your bunnyhops Gnarly though. Good effort. I'm another one who's looking forward to a 'proper' video. Andeee
I lose respect for riders who don't wear helmets. Your lucky none of them bails resulted badly to a close head injury otherwise you would of known about it. So please buy a helmet mate. Seeing riders not wear one when they are doing big stuff makes me cringe like hell!! P.S nice falls Andy Edited November 30, 2011 by Andeee
aener
So you don't respect any of the pro street BMX riders? He's been riding a long time, so he's heard the arguments for sure. It's his own choice. I'm not condoning it, let me make that clear, but to say you have no respect for a rider because they wear no helmet is outrageous. Do you lose respect for people who don't warm up thoroughly before every ride? By the looks of things, he's also one of those who has come off so many times he's a reasonable idea of how to bail instead of crash, so it's probably more a feat of "skill" that they didn't end in serious problems. N.B. The word "skill" is in inverted comas as it's not really the right word. Instinctive reactions, muscle memory, whatever. Skill just sums it up nicely if not taken literally. Andeee
So you don't respect any of the pro street BMX riders? because they wear no helmet is outrageous. Really? never knew it was a crime to be fair. Im only putting my own personal opinion as i had a bad experience at the age of 3 of cracking my head in 2 places so it makes me wary. So you know what they say.. safety first. So because he's been riding a long time is that suppose to mean we should all bow down? aener
Really? never knew it was a crime to be fair. Im only putting my own personal opinion as i had a bad experience at the age of 3 of cracking my head in 2 places so it makes me wary. So you know what they say.. safety first. So because he's been riding a long time is that suppose to mean we should all bow down? No, I'm not saying we should bow down. The second half of that sentence and the one following it explained your question. Didn't you read it? "He's been riding a long time, so he's heard the arguments for sure. It's his own choice." You didn't know what was a crime? If it's my statement of not respecting a rider because they don't wear a helmet being outrageous, then no. It's not a crime. Nor did I say it was. I said it was outrageous. It's like not respecting an amazing rider who DOES wear a helmet, but smokes. Or a rider who is equally good, but drinks large quantities of alcohol. Or even a rider who wears all the safety gear in the world, including bubble-wrap, but who has a chain they know is getting on a bit. ("Replace it every three months!" "But it's only ten weeks old!" "That's near enough! It could still kill you." when most chains I've had are good for a year or so.) They're all personal choices. Just because one leads to serious issues more instantly that another is irrelevant. Continue this on Facebook if you're still concerned. I'm conscious that we're arguing in someone's benevolently intended thread once again. If you're so safety conscious because of that accident, why do you intentionally put yourself in dangerous situations on a bike?! Sure, you wear a helmet to protect your head, but if you go over the bars and bend your well-protected head so far back it snaps your neck, you're still f**ked. What I'm trying to say is (in summary): Riding is dangerous, but we still choose to do it. Wearing a helmet will help against some injuries, but if we're choosing to put ourselves in such hostile conditions to begin with, what's wrong with choosing to do so with one less safety precaution? I wear mine because it defends against pain when I fall off, which I do a lot - but if you have a reason that in your opinion outweighs that - let's face it - very occasional defense (whether it be looking cool, or keeping your head cool), why bother? You're gonna get hurt anyway.
Andeee
I'm conscious that we're arguing in someone's benevolently intended thread once again. So i put my own personal opinion to say what i think. For then you to butt your phat head in n try get all political.Your the one who is trying to start the argument pal with your long boring paragraphs. Clogging this guys thread. I can't see what your problem is to be fair. Your wasting you time if you ask me i can't exactly see where it is going to get you? LEON
Argue all you like, they're free bumps But yeah, basically what Aener said, I've been riding since 1997 which I'm guessing is longer than about 97% of this forum & I've never really worn a lid & I won't in my next vid either, it's just my choice, there are bmxers out there doing frontflips/backflips over concrete with no lid, what I do is pretty minor compared to them. That bail at the end is probably the worst bail I've ever had. but I knew how to react, keep head up, put a hand down, just came naturally. I know that won't work on every bail but I've been riding 13 years, never broke a bone, never had a concussion, worst I've had is twisted ankles & what you see in the vid. Cheers all! Topsy
I pretty much like watching your riding But I do think your bike geo is a little bit strange (atleast on paper)
LEON
Thanks. Yeah I know most people don't understand the geo, especially young riders who grew up on echo's and think 1050 wb is a short bike lol. But a lot of young riders missed the sport 10 years ago when bikes were all short, it was about fun and incorporating all kinds of riding, and not riding a purpose built pogo stick and practising the same 3 moves. But it works for me, I just hate long bikes!!! Edited December 1, 2011 by LEON
Topsy
Yeah, as long as you can ride it it's cool I started off with the 2010 fourplay and everything else I try feels miles too long. Probably means I also dislike long ones. (I'm guessing the inspired comes somewhere in the middle of long & short?^^^)
LEON
2010.....is that the original one that's 1035wb with a 35mm bb rise? I've ridden a few of those and I hated them, just too long & high for their intended use. The newer one seems a bit better, but I haven't ridden on to comment.
