Alex921
Hello, I have been wanting to try street trial riding for a while now but I want to start of by buying a decent bike to help me off. I am looking for a 24" street bike that is as cheap as possibly under £300. I know this is a lot to ask especially for a cheap price but I have looked on so many different sites now and still cant find exactly what I want... I have see the Mad Phase but I'm not sure about this bike and if it is suitable to do street trials on and I am wondering if there are any other bikes like this. I also REALLY love the inspired bikes and I saw the Onza Zoot to but this is still out of my price range. do you know any other bikes like these but are cheaper? Thanks, Alex
kurtis G
all i can suggest is to keep an eye out for a cheap zoot. or get a onza T-pro, they are beginner friendly and they have a nice short wheel base for mauals and spiny stuff. Alex921
Yeah I have been looking at Onza Zoot's but I cant really find any that are in my price range... What do you think the MAD Phase is like? Thanks, Alex
kurtis G
They are good stocks to start out on, although they aren't so good for street.

kurtis G
just keep a look out for a second hand zoot or marino, if you your adamant on doing street.
Pete.M
The Ashton Effect is a 24" but from what I've read it's not to be recommended. They seem to have pretty bad components, unless you find one that's been heavily upgraded. Good luck searching.

Yeah it looks all right but it is £500 and I could get a onza zoot for that much and the onza is better... thanks anyway... (: Any other suggestions? -Alex

ogre
there custom made steel frames, google marino bike... if you wait long enough you'll get a bike second hand, i picked up a zoot for £300 in pretty much perfect condition this summer, so you could be lucky, don't be afraid to spend money, investing in a decent bike will save you massively in the long run as trials requires some parts to be a prety decent standard, and that aint cheap... ooo
Im not sure what you want to do with your bike, but if you can't find a 24 trials bike in your price range, you can either go for 20 or 26 like people have suggested or you can look into the 24" dirt/street/park bikes, theyre heavier and less suited to pure trials but you can do more park stuff with them, theyre used a bit more like big bmx's. check out brands like NS, BlkMrkt and DMR. some of these will be in your price range. Thanks for this ^^ So I looked around and found a nice looking bike that I liked and it is a VooDoo Shango. This bike is relatively cheap and I was wondering what you guys thought of it. -Alex
isitafox
I wouldn't bother, you'll find it very hard to do trials on that. Your best hanging on till the right bike comes along rather than rushing into buying something. If you can drum up another £100 there's a nearly new zoot for sale on here, other than that have you had a look on pinkbike?

It looks alright for doing street trials on and stuff. Why isn't it very good for trials? -Alex
isitafox
Looks like it's got bottom bracket drop for a start which won't make things easy especially if your just starting, it's a 26" not 24", the gear ratio would be no good for doing any trials moves on straight out the box so you'd have to spend some money on new cranks and bottom bracket as it says it has a 3 piece set on and basically it's a dirt jump bike. Don't take this as me trying to tell you what to like and what not to like but if you want to get into street trials then your best of getting a street trials bike. As far as the Ashton Effect goes, people only generally said don't bother just get a zoot instead as brand new they were around about the same price but 2nd hand you can pick up an Ashton pretty cheap. There's 2 on ebay at the moment for under £250, if you want to know how they ride then PM trialsman dan on here as he's got a 24" Ashton and has for a while. If you really like the Voodoo though then go for it, don't buy something you don't want to but don't be dissapointed if it turns out to be no good for what you want. You never now, you could get the Voodoo and decide dirt jumping is the way forward for yourself in which case your set.
Alex921
Yeah thanks for that... The only problem I have is that I can't find any street trial bikes cheap. I don't have much money to spend and the VooDoo is pretty cheap and it looks nice and it also looks pretty good for street on these videos... Thanks -Alex
bing
i`ve got these the top one is a 05 zoo python, proper trials bike. The bottom one is a 2011 dmr drone, but with dirtjam pros on it. as standard they come with rigids, but is quite heavy, and has very little bb rise, therefore would be not right good for trials. you are better off getting a 20", as i did as a novice, or save up for a zoot. don`t get a park/dj bike, the geo is all wrong, and will be too heavy. i only paid £80 for my zoo, so look about, you`ll find summat half decent for your budget. Conradm94
There is a guy selling a zoot on pink bike for about £300. No link sorry.
ooo
the voodoo is kinda poo an you will loose all your money if you try and sell it which won't help the saving up for an inspired situation. Im guessin as your saying street, you arent interested in pure trials but want to do cool looking stuff as well. But, I got a mod and im well happy with it, its good for learning on, light bikes are way less tiring, which helps when you're doing a move wrong 100 times. The lack of seat really helps too. If you can a decent one cheap get your core skills down and then sell it next year without making too much of a loss you can then go and get a zoot or inspired.
