Chambers
After a bit of tech advice with my hope v2 tech trial discs, firstly after owning the bike for less than a week now, ive been on about 5 rides and just recently lost a fair bit of power on the front and gained an ear wrenching squeal. The dials on the lever are set as far out as possible and the brake has recently been serviced by hope (new pads, fresh bleed and new seals throughout). Any help appreciated Paul
Mikee
Sounds like it's contaminated. There are ways you can clean the pads abit but they will never be as good. You can burn some of the oil out with a blow tourch or something.
aener
You can burn some of the oil out with a blow tourch or something... ...and then put the rotor in a frying pan with soapy water and cook it for a while. Pour soap on to the pads, rub it in as best you can, then chuck 'em in with the rotor. Dry it off with tissue - there might be oils on a rag/teatowl. Put 'em back on the bike and bed them in again. As said above, it'll not be as good as pads that never got contaminated, but it'll probably help a bit. Might not, if you're unlucky, or dropped them in a bucket of oil
Matt Vandart
cut a MT coke can in half and put the pads in with some meths covering it. ignite meths. Leave to cool. Pads solved. Clean rotor with meths and a clean rag. Job done. check the banjo bilt on the caliper I have found with hope they are sometimes a bit loose and once, the face the copper washer joins was machined incorrectly.
