Max Quinn
Cheers for looking firstly. I'm basically trying to find a way to incorporate posts on a Facebook group in a page of a Wordpress website (www.broken-culture.co.uk). We've got a page on Facebook between all our mates called 'f**king Tune' which is a private group where we all just post amazing tunes to show each other, and I thought it would be cool to incorporate it on Broken Culture in some way. It would mean I can get contribution to the website from a few mates who know their stuff about music but less about contributing to a website and just be a nice little community thing to get more people involved in what I'm doing. Problem is, trying to search this stuff on Google just give a tonne of ways to do it the other way round, automatically publishing Wordpress posts to Facebook. Any ideas? Thanks! JD™
Never had to do things that way round, and I'd imagine the reason you can't find a lot about it is because it's sort of pointless in a way. A blog should be a little more 'vetted' than a private Facebook page, you've clearly built Broken Culture around a specific feel so to allow random posts to it would be a bit counter intuitive. My recommendation would be to just hand pick the best stuff from the private group and make short posts about it on the blog, or give some of the members of the group rights to post to the blog - you could give them restricted access and make it so that you had to vet any submissions if you so wanted. If you're set on doing it the way you described, which wouldn't exactly be the end of the world, I'm sure it's technically possible and I'll definitely have a look into it if that's the route you want to go down - purely out of curiosity I guess! Yer I definitely see what you mean, but it's a tight group of mates in a private invite only group. Me and 2 others moderate and delete the occasional shit tune but in over a year of it running I think we've felt the need to delete less then half a dozen so I'm pretty confident in the quality of it. It wouldn't be integrated with posts from any other category as well so completely split into it's own page and hopefully be formatted completely free of any post titles or info, just a list of youtube videos. Open to other options and I am considering making more Wordpress accounts for people, just seemed like it could be an easy way for all involved. Massively appreciated if you do wanna have a look! But no worries if not just posting on the off chance someone might be able to point me in the right direction, I'm obviously happy to get stuck in and do some working out for myself. JD™
This could help you, but I think it'll only work for one blog post, doesn't look like it'll make a new post for each item added to the group. There's also the issue with just using a plugin in that it's a private group, so there's a possibility that the public wont be able to see it anyway. The only thing I can say is that I spend 10+ hours working on blogs and Facebook pages for clients and haven't ever needed to implement this, or seen it implemented by anyone else - for that reason I'd say it's probably a niche enough need to not actually have an implemented solution at the moment. Good luck though
Max Quinn
Yer fair enough you're probably right, gonna look around a little bit then if not just get some of them to blog in a seperate category and see how it goes from there.
