bar angle pics please, can't say I have ever had wrist pains apart from when my bars have been too far forwards.

Hmmm... could explain a litte? i've been trying having my bars further forwards so they come out at the same angle as the stem (lets say 45 degrees) then found i couldn't pedal kick with them that far forward so moved them to lets say... around 60 degrees maybe? which has made my pedal kicks better so i've kept it at that angle. what kind of angle do you run your bars ali?

I suffer with wrist pains not from riding but mainly weight lifting. Get it all the time with bicep and tricep work outs. Ideally i need to buy some wrist supports to prevent the pain and to stop it from getting worse.

I dont work out alot, and when i do it isn't massivly hard. But if i use weights for bicepts (spelling?) It really does kill my wrists.

Already do that plenty thankyou, and i use my arm not my wrist unlike some ;)

I have mine so that the from the side, the bars (before they start to sweep) are in-line with my headtube.

I see, i ride TGS/pure trial so i dont really think that'd be ideal. I'll try rocking them back slightly but we'll see i guess. Would angle of brake levers effect it too?

By "same angle as the stem", are you talking about the first upsweep part of your bars by where they come out of your stem? If so, running it more than past level with your stem is pretty mental, and would probably explain a lot about why your wrists are hurting. As a little example of why that might be, if you loosen your bar clamp bolts off fully, put your hands on your bars and 'squeeze' your grips until your bars pop into a comfortable position, you'll notice that typically it's quite a way back. Obviously it's not ideal to ride with them at that angle, but it's also pretty clear that running them at pretty much the polar opposite of that isn't going to really help your wrists out much.

The only thing that running bars super far forwards really seems to do is make bikes feel like crap for anything on two wheels (including doing taps and stuff like that), and it makes your backhopping position a bit weirder usually as you have to adjust your arms from your elbow to your wrist more to take into account the bar angle you've got. If you look at any video of riders with their bars super far forwards you'll notice it.

Nor do I, but from experience, it is.

I used to have the rise in line with the rise of the stem when I had brakes, and loved it.

I took them off, and rolled them back just a tiny bit, so that... y'know how they taper inwards from the 31.8 to the 21.7... the bottom edge of the taper continued the angle of the stem.

After a bit, I spoke to you ;) Wanted to bunnyhop and manual etc better, so I rolled them back until the rise is vertical. Perpendicular to the floor, that is, not parallel with the headtube. It got better for most things, but my gaps took a lull and sidehops we a fair bit more effort.

Got used to it now and am about back on track... I don't understand why - it makes little sense - but I do find that backsweep is not great for TGS.

Me either to be fair, i was just trying it out to see what difference it makes. What i did find was, it made my kicks worse, nose manuels better (i'm trying to learn them) everything else it fairly similar.

Both of my wrists crack constantly when I rotate them, I assume it's from trials, but unlike yours it's painless. Could try using a powerball to stregnthen up the muscles in the wrist, but that's not ideal if it hurts to use them. :mellow:

It is usually painless if i havn't ridden (rode?, i've forgotten :$) in a while but after i ride it'll give me pain for a good few hours, will click like mad and no matter how much i click them it feels like they need to have a really big click, like something is out of joint or something???

Do some wrist exercises, I look like a serial masturbator now.

What kind of wrist exercises?

From my limited experience it does seem to.

Mine are pretty shagged, I can make them click easily.

Does it cause you pain?

My wrists click around 4,000 times a day, but like with Oli, it's totally painless. Can't remember ever getting pains in my wrists to be honest...

How long have you been riding and what angle are your bars at JD?

If you have dumbells you can do a lot with them. Get the bar and tie enough "rope" to it so you can hold your arm straight out in front of you and it nearly touches the floor. Tie a weight to the other end and slowly wind and unwind the weight up and down. That'll build your forearm and eventually your wrist.

That's your main problem I'd say (Wrist strength that is). After the angle of your bars.

Okay i'll start doing that.. what kind of weight would you reccomend to start, im not a small skinny f**ker but im not massive either, i can bench 35kg 10 times which is my best at the moment..

Been riding trials on off for 12 years. Bars are TT High rise and they're rolled back so the rise is in line with the head tube.

Ahh fair play thats probally why then, i guess you ride street??

My set up is: Try-all rage bar (same geo as the inspired bar apparently) tartybikes stem and well i said the angle about 60 degrees ish...

Just play around to find something about the right weight that you're feeling it a bit at the end of the exercise and get a feel from it from then on (Y)
