old'scoolfool
I'm thinking of buying a frame from them their prices seem really reasonable, not sure what the postage would be like but with the amount of parts i'd buy it would still be cheaper than anywhere over here. Has anyone used them?

monkeyseemonkeydo
Are they? Yup. One example, taken from the 26" frame section; every picture stolen from Tarty. http://shop.biketrials.ro/produse/cadre26/293 Nobody likes people using photos without asking first, but you get your site advertised on another website which means free advertising, so it all isn't that bad. As Luke said, that's not the point. In a commercial environment (especially in a small community like trials) it's just lazy and unprofessional. It's also only a step away from (and probably actually worse than) copying descriptions and specs.

I don't remember getting a pay cheque from them for taking the time to actually take and edit those photos? Equally, if they're next to a 'Buy now' button, do you think people are going to go "Oh, it looks like Tartybikes took these photos. Maybe I'll go there instead", or just click 'Buy now'? Especially bearing in mind they've also cropped out our watermark from some of them. Are they? I can't be 100% sure, but evidence would suggest it... http://shop.biketria...roduse/pipe/339 http://shop.biketria...use/cadre26/293 http://shop.biketria...use/cadre26/380 http://shop.biketria...duse/saboti/337 http://shop.biketria...se/ghidoane/333 http://shop.biketria...use/cadre20/381 http://shop.biketria...duse/pedale/357 http://shop.biketria...se/anvelope/350 http://shop.biketria...se/anvelope/
Jake.
That's not really the point though, is it? I agree, they're just ripping all the other trials company's off who try hard to make their website look professional and appealing to the consumers, and tarty doesn't really benefit from it at all (other than the fact that their website is watermarked). Mark, if you wanted a pay cheque from those photos then put them on a website like www.istockphoto.com and you could perhaps get some money out of it. I didn't mean to offend anyone. If it makes you feel any better, I'd never buy from any bike website other than tarty. :/

Part of my job description is to take the photos for our site, so I don't need to license them anywhere. Me gaining money wasn't really the point I was making... Luke Rainbird
On behalf of the forum is anyone really bothered about that? Yeah. If I was looking to buy from a site and they were too lazy/half-arsed to take their own pictures, but to use (generally lower quality) rips of another company's images, still with their watermark on, I'd run the other way. If that reflects how seriously they take things, I'm not going to trust them with a fat load of my hard earned cash.

Luke Rainbird
Who's bothered? A picture is a picture? Any picture does justice right? I could rinse all the pictures off Tarty's site right now, throw together a shit website just like that one with the pics and some blagged info from around the net. Few people like yourself that don't give a shit about a company being professional ignore the shoddy attempt at marketing their business and send me a load of money for a load of bikes/parts and away I go with your cash, leaving you with nothing. Guessing you'd be pretty stoked? Just saying...

monkeyseemonkeydo
Even Dan Ko, who seemed not to give two shits what his service was like, made sure that he had all his own photos of products and ran the official things like the site 'properly'.
