Weebs
Hi, I just bought my first trials bike off eBay. It was originally a Diamondback Tekiya but everything apart from the frame has been changed for custom parts. The guy converted it to single speed himself and everything looked fine. The one thing that sometimes happens is when a lot of pressure is applied to the cranks it makes a loud clunk and the pedals skip forward. Any ideas as to what it could be? Thanks

Surely that's not the problem? I noticed just now that the chain tensioner is pretty loose. I can pinch the chain together with two fingers... Could it be the chain skipping? krazykid009
Try tightening it up, doesn't cost anything and it will rule that out, or solve it! Mission hubs tend to be unbranded ones, and thus unreliable James

Weebs
The second one's just to show how loose it is.
JDâ„¢
Wouldn't worry about how loose it is, because that's only when you're squeezing the tensioner. Things I'd check are chain line (i.e. is the chain leaving the sprockets at the right angle?) and for any bends in the sprockets themselves. Yes, the hub is most likely wank, but it should still be usable for a beginner...
krazykid009
Tensioners fine.... As above check chainline and teeth. Odds are the hub is not up to the job though. James
