Hi there currently riding a ozonys v2 curve with middle burn 170's a friend of mine had a go and said i would get a lot more pull/torque for when doing back wheels/ taps.

But my curiousity is would i get a lot more power/control going to 165's ?

Verdicts please?

hmm...not really

You power the chain through the cranks. As far as I understand the longer the crank the more leverage you will gain from the same force, meaning you get more power the longer the crank.

You may gain more control with shorter cranks as you will make smaller movements meaning you will have slightly more control.

I guess it's a classic power vs. control question.

Most trials cranks varie 160-175

Power comes from your legs. Cranks are just a lever to input it to the bike. Longer lever = more torque, obviously.

True id agree on that one i mean the power of my legs feels ok i have been doing a lot more leg excercises at the gym recently. Was just curious what advantages people got with different lengths?

Still dont know if you mean 165 or 175 your friend was refering to?

The difference between 165 and 175 is night and day also going from 170s to 175s you will notice a big difference on static moves like gaps, its a LOT easier with longer cranks.

But is that the same on a mod? as ive seen some people put 175's on hate them and then go back to 165's, i love my current 165's but still want to try some 175's to try and add some "'s to my gaps :)
